i used a 97-05 passat shift boot to replace my old one($25)

i got this shift boot off ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...227979042&rd=1
It was $25 and looks great. shipping took awhile from germany though.

I just pulled my old shift boot off the plastic ring and stretched the new one over it. It took a fair amount of pulling and stretching but it went and was good and tight. A heat gun could probably be used, but dont burn the leather. I'll post pics of it installed once i finish some other interior work i'm doing.

Why don't you just get it from redline goods? And not wait that long..

^ +1 Redline would have been a great place to get it from, and it would have been a lot better fit than what you got.

It is always better to pay a little more to support the companies that put time and money into offering an aftermarket selection for our vehicles.

+1 for buying a boot from Redline. They are relatively cheap and the leather quality is top notch.

I got mine from http://www.komodogoods.com/ and couldnt be happier. I got them when on sale for just over $40 for both the shift boot and the e-brake boot shipped.

I like mine and it looks better then the stock one. Fit was perfect. It was tight but thats good. I think i've seen the redline ones but the cost was higher. And i don't even want to hear about support the companies that make aftermarket parts for our cars. Most the stuff for our cars is over priced. Besides i have a german car too so i can support anyone i want, which will be the lowest price for the quality.
