Question I think my DP is rubbing the frame?

I just installed my "M2 Style" SS DP, which does appear exactly like the pics of the M2.

I noticed when I installed the DP that it was very close to the frame to the side of the engine - maybe 1/8" clearance. When accelerating in 1st, I believe I am getting engine vibration through to the frame.

I know one of my motor mounts needs to be replaced...
Would that solve the problem?

Would a engine torque brace solve the problem?

How much clearance between DP and frame is normal?

Thanks for your advice.

very interesting try driving around for a while like that then check the DP to see if in fact their are any wear marks.

If that is so, then Pettit's DP would be the best fit for clearance issues since it has three bends instead of two. But then you are stuck replacing the studs, uhg.

Somethings not right, if it is exactly like the M2 it shouldn't rub at all.

The first thing I thought, when I started reading your post, was that you had bad motor mounts. I would certainly replace those soon, regardless of anything else.

Thanks for the responses so far...

I'm going to check for wear marks to confirm the rubbing (but I'm pretty sure already).

Can replacing motor mounts be a do-it-yourself kind of job?
Any thoughts on the torque brace?

I just noticed it said M2 "style". Is it the RMS copy or is it from Corksport? Cause if it's from Corksport it "WILL" rub the turbo manifold and the turbo!!! I've sent mine back and still waiting for their reply.

My downpipe rubbed when I first installed it. I had a bad driver's side motor mount. The rubbing stopped when I installed a new mount.

A Torque brace will help also, and is a lot eaiser to install!

If it rubs, I would think that the paint on the frame would be burnt off by the high heat of the DP. I have about 1/4" to 1/2" of clearance if I remember correctly. I have an PFS DP that is pretty much like the HKS DP so clearance maybe more than the M2 style DP.

I have an M2 down pipe. There is plenty of clearance. I would replace that mount right away. You don't want to start wearing a thin spot in your pipe.
