Exclamation i think i really messed up, help please!

ok decided to replace my vacum hoses. it got everything taken apart. the problem is the hoses are so hard and brittle that when i tried to take the first one off, the piece it was connected to broke off with it. it looks like all of them are going to do the same thing. the hoses are so brittle that they just snap right into. what do i do? theres not a mazda dealership in my town and if there was they probally wouldnt know anything about the car. can i drive the car to a shop with the hose disconnected? this made me sick to my stomach when it happened. sorry for being so vague i dont really know the name of the piece that broke off. please give me some advice. , brad

Swap one of the non broken solenoids (1 with a filter) and you're back on the raod. Use an exacto knife to cut the hoses off, and just be careful.

Brads, I broke two replacing my hoses. I tried to glue them, no such luck there. I ended up buying some new ones, you could find some here on the forum parts wanted. Once I broke two, I started cutting the brittle hoses before attempting to remove the solenoids first. I heated them with a lighter to make them soft, then sliced them w/ an exacto knife. Good luck!

Yup cutting them works good. Just slice the hose down one side like someone said and then take a very small flat screwdriver and stick it in the slit and give it a little twist. This should pop the hose loose all the way around the solenoid and make them much easier to remove. I have used this tech. changing the hoses on two different cars an have not had a solenoid break yet.
