Unhappy I still have faith

Sometimes i do wonder why i dump so much money into my rx7. Just fnished running in after rebuild, still got the boost spiking problem so i decided to take it back in to the work shop to get it checked out. They took it up n down the road a few times (hitting fuel cut) so he gave up and said its time for a pfc, which is all good cos im gonna get one soon anyway BUT when i went to go start my car up it ll start but pulses as if its been ported or something but it hasnt, and its a really rough missing rich kind of a pulse and wants to stall which it does eventually after a few secs. Im thinkin to myself im fucked but then i started it back up half hour later and it went sweet, until i drove it home and it was just bucking and hesitant to rev and on decealartion it'll backfire like mad smelling like fuel. Im really thinkin i should give it up cos ive just about had enough of this
my mods are straight thru 3 inch exhuast no cat, air filters, hks ssqv and a recent small port rebuild but finished running in, oh yeah i dont have a bst control for it yet which is silly i know but pfc should sort it out? Anyways thanks again for reading and help would be greatly appreciated as this will get me hopes up once i find out wat all this boost spiking and rough running probs are. Cheers

Sorry i should of explained better. Im from New Zealand if u dont know and the workshop actually has NZ's quickest rotary so he's actually quite reputable. He said my front rotor was able to be reconditioned but i had to get a new rear.

why do people spend all that money on a new motor and not get fuel managament? that new motor you just bought might be toast because u skimped on a upgraded ECU.

You are running a straight exhaust, ported engine, intake (you said filters-plural?) You're getting boost spikes and you ran the car under full boost past the fuel cut?! All on a STOCK ECU?!!!

Why lord? Why do people do such mean nasty stupid things to such a nice little car?

Get a compression check. I suspect that you will be needing a new engine. Hopefully not, but everything you've described points to it.

Good luck,

-b

yup.. the exact same thing happened to my friend.. He had a downpipe, rebuilt motor, exhaust, intake, filter, but no PFC or boost controller. His motor blew shortly after and he told me later on that NOT getting the PFC and boost controller was what killed it.
