I Started Mods What Are These Noises?

ok, allrotor93 installed greddy smic, apexi intake,m2 ecu,rb catback. He couldnt get the downpipe bolts off, so i still have the stock precat on. the car is making all kinds of strange sounds that seem to come from the intake and from under the car maybe the turbos.I have heard of the mooing sound problem ,but i never had it with the apexi intake on my 94.I remember some type of plug that went into one of the intake hoses.i dont have any with the used one that i bought.Could a bad rubber coupling from the turbo to y pipe cause the bottom noise? it comes on for a while then goes away.I dont have a boost gauge yet but the car is much faster now and better on gas too. any ideas?

i drove all the way from durham nc to my home in sc about 271 miles. on the hwy going 70 mph the only sound you could hear was the blowoff sound when i was taking my foot off the gas.But driving slower you can hear a mooing sound and then another sound that almost sounds like something is rubbing under the car. It seems to happen when i start to give it some gas.I know that allrotor99 said he took the y pipe off to get at the downpipe.Could there be a problem down there?

Does he not answer your questions?

You are hearing the airpump most likely.

I have those exact same noises with my apexi intakes. Theyre from the air pump, and the blow off valves when you get on mild boost then let off the gas. From what your saying, I would say everything is alright.

prolly cause your apexi kit came with a small plug with a hole in it that goes in line running from the AP to the apexi intake. that acts like a muffler.. If your car dosent have that in it anymore... there's your prob.

Yes, it needs a hole in it. Or better yet, several small holes.

fixed mooing sound from apex intake

thankyou rx7 store! i was told to put a plug in the end of the hose that goes to the airfilter and goes around to the back of the intake. i bought a copper plug and drilled a small hole in it and inserted it into the correct hose,NOT 8 inch HOSE GOING DIRECTLY TO AIRPUMP.The mooing has decreased at least 80% and other strange noises as well. it is a substitute for the plastic one that comes with a new apexi intake.
