Rightmost in the system is the blower motor. The blower motor's air passes through the evaporator, then to the heater core, then to the vents. The heater core itself is in the center of the car, and the evaporator is in the glove box.

If you removed the evaporator and didn't make a duct or something to go from the blower motor housing to the heater core, the motor will just blow a lot of air around behind the glove box.

You can either a) gut the evaporator and reinstall the housing, making a duct. b) fab a duct up of some kind. c) see if you can find the ultra-rare no-AC duct. Dunno if they ever came on US cars, maybe on Canadian cars that didn't have AC or JDM cars with no AC. I actually saw an FC in the junkyard once with the AC delete duct - snagged that sucker pronto.

Thats what I was trying to say. It sounded to me like he removed the center section between the blower motor and heater core, which is the exaporator. Because of this the air has no way to be ducted to the heater core and up to the dash vents.

^^Word. (Dont have an FD, but the same rule applies to any car) The more small stuff you take out, the more weight you get rid of, the more it adds up. I think at the moment, with all the "small" stuff ripped out, I have around a 2500 curb, instead of 2800-2900 curb. Thats makes a big difference.

re:

had the same problem, problem is that air blows from the blower to the heater core through the evaporator. A simple and clean fix is to buy the ducting from Ray Crowe at Malloy mazda for the non a/c rx7 and it looks clean and fixes the problem. Hope that helps, if you need me to send you a picture of it, let me know and I will take one before I install it. I just got it from him yesterday. It was thirty something odd dollars.
