Talking I remember why I love my FD

So last weekend I went and picked up my FD from A-Spec after having the conversion to the 500R done as well as having a 4" downpipe and midpipe added. Regardless of gas prices and the pain my wallet goes through every time I have to fill up I just can’t keep from boosting . It pulls like crazy but is a ton of fun to drive around on the street. I have 7psi almost instantly and then 17psi by 3400-3500rpm. Previously I had the T435R and before that I had the T3. And although at first increase in spool time was a concern once I drove the car I was proven wrong. My 500R is producing more power but spools just as fast as my 35r originally did. I can't wait to get this thing out on a track and see how the it runs around on a course this year.
Just thought I’d share!!

Why do you switch so often? Do you sell your old kit and buy a new one every time?

I wish you lived closer. A ride in your car might actually convince me to change turbo setups, something I have never seriously considered......

Glassman - I've switched as often as I have because my car goes into A-Spec for something else and during that time it's there Sean releases something new that I just get the bug to try.

RX7sign - I'll try and snap some pics later on this week.

Rich - Oh come on Indiana is only like an 11-12 hour drive no biggie

I've got the dyno sheet for the 448hp pull somewhere on my other pc I'll have to search around for it tonight.

Alright just a little update:
Took the car up to Gingerman after I taking care of most of the tech issues I wanted to address. The track for those of you that are unaware is a pretty technical 1.88 mile course. Plenty of turns to short straights as well as two longer straights. The power coming out of turns was amazing and very linear. I was actually complimented on the setup by spectators and other drivers because they were quite surprised at its speed and agility given I was on street tires and that the turbo seemed to be relatively large to them. I tracked the car once before on the 35R T3 setup and there was quite a difference on the straights, but still the same ability to get up and out of turns. Can't wait to see how the setup feels on some of the other courses I have plans to run on later in the summer. I am by no means the fastest or smoothest driver yet on the course, I just don't have enough experience, but I feel this setup will please many road racers!

Yea it's kinda crazy to think what that would do..... I'm lookin at prolly close to 300 with my set-up and it's a monster, plus a buddy of mine has 402 and it's pretty damn insane! You guys should feel my friend's nearly 400hp '68 Cougar... I thought my car throws passengers.....

In his sig it states that he made the 448 at 15 psi. Suggestions? sure. get a big turbo, big fuel system, standalone, and run either water injection or race gas

It really all depends on what kind of driving you plan on doing. Personally I wanted a car that still was pretty quick spooling on the street hence why I started with the 35R. Sure I wanted power but I wanted the car to still be fun around town and get to 15-17psi before 4k rpm. As the guys at A-Spec developed other changes to the kit that offered basically the same spool but a bit more top end it was a logical step as my plan was and is to track the car. If you want a car that will be fun on the street I highly recommend this kit, however, if all you care about is power and don't care about spool you could go bigger: 40R, 42R whatever.
It's more about what you want from the car than anything. This setup will make 500HP at higher boost. I'm hoping to get back up to the shop and tune again with higher boost and race gas in the next couple of months, but I wanted to get a feel for it the way it is now before I go any further.
Many other factors come into play though as well including fuel, ignition, porting, etc...

Nic, glad to see you got the car back and have had a chance to drive it. I can't wait to get my kit. I know my numbers won't be quite as impressive since I'm running stock ports, but I'm sure everytime I step on the gas I'll look like this
Anyway, you get the bumper and stuff? I left it with A-Spec.
Take care.

Victor

Yeah thanks Victor. You'll love the kit. I'm sure even on stock ports it'll be fun.
