I need peace of mind RE: oil cooler

Yesterday I removed my oil cooler to repair all the bent fins. When I put it back, everything went smoothly. I tightened everything down and replaced the c-clips on the hoses, and filled it with oil. But when I started the car, all of my oil shot out of one of the oil cooler hose fittings. Apparently I didn't put the clip back on right. Anyway, I redid it and now no oil leaks from the fittings.

My question is: Are those clips/fittings something that you either put on right or wrong (i.e. oil immediately shoots out or doesn't.) The last thing I need is to be driving my car later down the line and have all my oil shoot out while driving.

Any help with this appreciated.

PS: My car's not moving until I find out it's safe.

Those c-clips used to fasten the oil line fittings to the oil cooler have to fit into a groove when the oil line is properly inserted, so yes, it's basically fastened correctly or incorrectly, and it won't pop off if done correctly. If you just slap the c-clip on there without looking to make sure that it's clipped into the groove, you're asking for trouble. The o-rings can be another source of leaks, but those aren't as bad as incorrectly fastening an oil line, obviously.

No worries bud (this is CF-Mike from forcedinductionlv.com btw)

I did the same thing when I put my engine back in the FD. I didn't seat the clip right, and when I started the car I shot half my oil out all over the floor lol.

Once you get it in correctly and start it with no leaks you should be fine.

As Kento said, make sure they are in that little groove:
