I need help?

I'm installing a Tach meter to my FD and i can't find the wire that give info on the RPM. I looking for a wire that's in the engine bay so that I can tap it and run my 5 inch Auto meter tach. Can somebody tell where to look for the wire?

Thanks

Yeah but

I heard that the stock sometimes have problem. So I'm installing a big one b/c I pick up for a good ($50). Plus I'm going all out later on with this car and I'm going with a carbon fiber dash later on.

You don't really need it unless you produce so much power that your stock tach cant keep up.

You can tap into a line that runs into the ECU, if you have the service manual it will tell you what line. I believe the ECU is on the right side of the passanger footwell, correct me if i'm wrong folks

Another riced FD?

Did you you make sure the new tach is big enough? If it isn't 5", you are just posing.

As it turns out, Ricers don't usually go into the big tachs. Domestic guys do...

dude you just sounded like the biggest ricer saying that. I'd like to see your FD in the 10s, just as the next FD owner would, but that is a lot of money and time. Something i'm sure you don't have. Plus tuning.

the 5" tach, no matter how cheap you got it, is RICEY. The stock tach is used in all the fastest FDs here and in Japan. Lose the tach, eBay that SOB. Don't ruin your FD.

Once again, if you people aren't going to help, don't post. It's a waste of time and space.

Chucky_ds,

Check the following thread. This person is asking for similar information as to what you are looking for:

Holy crap! The animosity on this forum is staggering sometimes!

I've never heard about any problems with the stock tach. What have you heard? Doesn't the stock tach go up to 10K (can't remember...)?

the ecu reads the crank angle sensor and signals the tach. I think you can tap in to the Diagnosis Connector to hook up your tach. I do not know the terminal position ,sorry
