Talking I love this car!

What's up everybody?

Just got home and as I was pulling into the garage I just got hit with a wave of love for my FD. I only got it this January and its only been on the road since mid-April but I've already done 2000 kilometers driving it is just pure joy! I never knew I was going to like it this much.

So... yeah. Just felt like posting to see if anyone else ever gets the same feeling.

Mid april is like a week and a half ago.. and already 2000km? You must do a lot of highway driving. But I suppose since is spring, the sportier cars coming out of the garage the owners wanna drive after a long winter... I just got my FD in January too, but I drove it despite the rain and little snow.

I feel the same, but at the same time I baby the car.

It is a love/hate relationship. Whenever my car runs good I love it, but when it breaks down I hate it. I think ive used every single curse word known to man-kind while fixing things on my car, and Iv'e even made up my own custom-made curse words.

I remember when fixing my turbo coolant leak saying something like: Ill bet in hell, all you do is fix RX7's with turbo coolant leaks all day long 24 hours a day for free. When fixing my oil pan leak, and OMP leak I think I almost cried, but the tear didnt actually come out so it doesnt count.

So ya... I do like the car and it is worth fixing and keeping, but its definitley love-hate for sure.

That's funny, I thought in hell all you would do is install the oil return lines on the stock twins on a creeper.

Hmm, I think in hell your are pre-disposed to finding leaks in a never ending amount of vacuum lines.

I love mine too....

But, as many have stated above there WILL be maintenance.

I picked up a 93 VR Touring with a newly rebuilt motor (very good compression) and mint interior and thought I was pretty close to a properly running car.

The guys who did the labor re-used anything they could while putting the new motor back in. So as you can imagine, anything that was rubber turned into plastic. And anything that was plastic turned into dust.

NOW it runs perfect after:
All vacuum hoses replaced with silicone
Coolant hoses were replaced
Upgraded radiator (metal side tanks)
AST deleted
new 02 sensor
HKS downpipe
new ignition harnes
new coil pack
plugs
wires
new check valves
oil pan brace
oil change
Trans service
Diff service
steel motor mounts
upgraded pads and slotted rotors
brake system bled w\ heavy duty fluid
SS brake hoses
new tires
various exhaust seals, bolts etc.

Now I'm saving for the suspension

Got mine in 94 and still love it. My only hate is when I tinker around on it and round a bolt off...that still sucks but the car is pure adrenaline still.

Yeah the car is a blast when it works.

When things break, you will hate the car. And its always at a time where its nice out and you see all nice cars out and you cant drive your car cause its down.

Thats why i ALWAYS recommend TWO fun cars. The FD and a fun DD. OR if you can squeeze more cars into the bunch even better.

What I'm dealing with right now. It sucks, but I still smile every time I open the garage door.

Of course, the FD is a drivers car.

The supra is a great car too, its toyota so of course it will always be more reliable than an rx7. Only thing that stopped me from getting a supra BACK THEN was the fact it was too big. Coming from a 3000gt, i didnt want another "big" car.

Then after being around supras alot past couple of years, i started to love them to death. Love the power they can put out. Love the sound of a boosted inline 6. And now i want a supra lol

Sucks all of them are *** expensive. Its amazing how well they hold their value.

Ill own one someday, when they actually go down in price lol

when i got the car after taking out a loan it was already a huge weight on my shoulders. and especially finding out the rebuild was not quiet to par to what the mechanic told me, it made me feel a little down, and ive got to get a new radiator and downpipe and eventually dual oil coolers ...the bills are just adding up...but idc....im happy lol. its a fun little car. cant wait till i get the 99 spec kit after ive paid some of the car off lol.
