Sorry I couldn't help but share that I passed at a test only station with my FD. Street ported, HKS cat back and blow off. Woot!

mine passed too. I had to goto the TEST ONLY smog. Was I randomly selected or all rx7's have to have the car smogged at test only place?

 

I think all rx7s are test only smog now.

 

The FD is designated (in CA) as a High Emitter Profile (HEP) vehicle which requires that it be tested at a test only station, period. Cars not on that esteemed list are randomly tested at a rate of about 15% of the vehicle population. This program is apparently designed to keep the smog guys honest about smog repairs to regular cars and to make it more difficult to casually smog a modified or high performance vehicle.

A smog guy also told me that cars considered as likely to be modified are also administratively designated for the HEP list.

 

I passed with street port, dp, intake and cb at test only. Shop had two prices, one test only or any number of tests until pass and of course I wanted the multiple tests.....but I think the shop didn't want to see me more than once

 

Mine just passed at the local shop. I didn't have at go to a CA test only station..
