you have a rear wiper?

japanese base model came with both coolers butb base also got rear wiper, don't think any r1s did

eric e

think he means r1 got a grippier seat material but i'm not sure how relevant that is as many base models came with it too and the r2 i have seen came with the check style material

Suede seats and dual oil coolers says R1. CC could have been installed after.

But then again, so could the seats and the oil coolers. I'm lost!

I'd say that it's probably an R1 with a criuse option.
I know, I know...they weren't available with cruise you say. There are some exceptions to that rule. It seems that Mazda made some "special combinations." I have personally seen a 94 R2 with a sunroof. Weird

But it could also be likely that someone installed cruise since IIRC, all the wiring is there, it just needs to be hooked up.

Also, what color is it?

Hmm interesting, I wonder what mine is then. I have an auto with dual oil coolers, cruise, cloth seats and no rear wiper. I bought it stock and I don't think the previous owner did any shaving or modifying.

Well it's not an R1/R2 since it is an auto.

Call a mazda dealer and run your VIN # See what it comes back as. That would be my guess on how to tell for sure what you have.

That is a base model. The "second oil cooler" is really an ATF cooler, rather than an oil cooler. My base model has cruise, too.

base and r1/r2 have different shocks. it's not to hard to add cc to an r1. any dealer can do it.

hell, if they took the time to install a nardi wheel they definetly put in the seats and additional oil cooler. I'd say you better just call the dealership and check your vin.

Thats the only way to know for sure. I would do that and stop guessing. Sound like an R1 wit CC though.

Cruise bolts on/plugs into R model cars no problem, I added it to my car.

Also I'd like the VIN of the R2 with a sunroof. It probably isn't an R2, it in a PEP or Touring someone added R model parts to. A friend has all the R1 parts on a 94 Touring.
