Question I got some 3rd gen questions!

I am a new owner of RX7...so I really know nothing.

1. What does this mean "Mazda original R1/R2 Lower Lip" ....am I getting the R1 or R2 lip? I am just looking to get the original 93 lip, is this it. And will if fit directly onto the 93 Touring or do I have to drill/modify it?

2. Do I need to add anything to this list to make my daily driven stock RX7 more RELIABLE (besides apex seals, cant afford them):
K&N Stock Filter
Bönez Air Pump Filter Only
RP Aftermarket Fuel Filter
GReddy Turbo Timer
AST Aluminum air separator tank
Mazda Genuine Thermostat
NGK Plug Wire Set
Hose Techniques Hose Upgrade
+added Samco coolant hose kit

3. Where can I get the unpainted lower lip that comes on the bottom of the rear bumper?

4. Do I need to be using "12W50 Idemitsu Rotary Racing Oil", because its really expensive...but if I need it Ill buy it. If not then what kind of oil do I use?

6. What kind of spark plugs do I put in my stock motor? Brand? 10.5 or 11?

lol, you dont just go upgrading apex seals. that requires full teardown of the engine.

i wouldn't bother with a turbo timer. buy something else with the money, like an AST.

avoid petit aluminum ast's I have been reading an increasing number of negative comments about them failing or leaking. a new stock AST or another brand of metal ast should be fine.

you will want to get a radiator from koyo or fluidyne (or a custom radiator) in there. koyo or fluidyne will be the cheapest though.

change your plugs while you're changing the wires.

your hose kit, is that vacuum hoses or coolant hoses? i'd suggest a coolant hose upgrade before a vacuum hose upgrade. vacuum problems will cause strange performance, coolant problems will cause melted, on fire fd's.

lmao at that one^ haha. Ive found that if there aren't any boosting/leaking problems, and the vac lines look to be ok (not hard and cracked or split) then it's probably ok. Yes, silicone hoses would do well but it's not a necessity.

as far as the lip goes, the R1/R2 lip should fit, it's all the same body. Someone correct me if im wrong plz.

Oil -- i have no idea if that kind is good. i do know that royal purple synthetic is good as hell and i always use that in my turbo pro.

Lastly, don't NGK spark plug wires not only deliver a stronger spark but can also make the combustion hotter? The latter being something we don't necessarily want. You definitely want to replace damaged/old wires to make sure it's properly firing, but i was just under the impression it could make **** hot.

Run Stock Spark Plugs
20w50 Oil any brand will be fine for what you are doing
R1 and R2 lips are the same and will fit the stock bumper fine. 99 spec lip will also fit

Put on an aftermarket downpipe, dont touch the vacuum hoses unless you are having trouble with your sequential system.
Make sure you have no fuel leaks. I have had 2 customers in the last week bring me their car with fuel spraying out of the Fuel Pulsation Dampner without even knowing it.

This will fit directly to your front bumper as long as it is the stock bumper...

2. Do I need to add anything to this list to make my daily driven stock RX7 more RELIABLE (besides apex seals, cant afford them):

Apex seals is only changed when doing a full engine rebuild so you dont have to worry about this..

K&N Stock Filter

Do this

Bönez Air Pump Filter Only

Dont know what this is...

RP Aftermarket Fuel Filter

Do this....

GReddy Turbo Timer

Dont need this....

AST Aluminum air separator tank

Do this...

Mazda Genuine Thermostat

Do this if there is something wrong with your current one...

NGK Plug Wire Set

Do this.....

Hose Techniques Hose Upgrade
+added Samco coolant hose kit

I hope this is the whole kit if so do it....

3. Where can I get the unpainted lower lip that comes on the bottom of the rear bumper

Post a WTB add in the 3rd gen parts for sale section....

4. Do I need to be using "12W50 Idemitsu Rotary Racing Oil", because its really expensive...but if I need it Ill buy it. If not then what kind of oil do I use?

most people use 20/50 reg castrol oil .....you can search there is a lot of debate on this one...

6. What kind of spark plugs do I put in my stock motor? Brand? 10.5 or 11?

on a stock engine, 7 and 9's on a modified engine 9 all around is what most people run....10.5 and 11 is not needed unless you are all raced out....

I would like to say welcome as well. as far as making your car more reliable do what everyone else is saying as far as the radiator and the ast tank and the plugs do need to be changed more often then most vehicles as rotary engines do use more oil to lubricate themsleves than most reciprocating motors. the plugs will get caked in oil and most likey fuel since most people run their motors slightly rich. so do your radiator and downpipe replacement that will really help making it more reliable provided your motor is in decenty

R1/R2 lip is same thing they will all fit on the stock bumper along with the 99spec lip.

Oil... Your choice everyone has likes and dislikes.

Wires will not make your car lean out, just help burn the fuel inside the combustion chamber. Just upgrade them...

agreed with everything said above.... i used to think that i needed a turbo timer before i bought my FD and i learned that the stock turbos are oil and water cooler therefor no need for a turbo timer... good luck and welcome to the expensive and addicting world of the FD

You don't even need to search for answers to any of these question. The stickies at the top of the page will get you deep into repairs, not just FAQ's.
