Talking I got my Unobtainium Bushings

OMG these things are SOLID!!! They sound like pool table ***** when you tap them against each other.

I'm just curious about one thing, has anyone ever had one crack on them? They just seem too brittle, and am wondering if anyone that has put some mileage on them had any problems like one cracking. My RX-7 isn't my daily driver. I'm not concerned or worried, as I'm sure Jimbo will be able to send me a replacement in the unlikely event that one cracks, but I AM curious though. (I'm sure the Unobtainium representative will answer this one for me )

Also, for you guys that have them tapped with a grease fitting, do you have any pics on how you have it on the control arm?

I'm probably going to die them blue. I can NOT wait to start installing these puppys. I've hard a car before with solid bushings, and these feel about as solid as can be. Ohhhh, I AM looking forward to that spine tingling feeling again

Unobtainium Bushings for sale.

Wow, you are definitely excited about your bushing set. I finally got mine yesterday and these babies definitely feel solid. That is a pretty cool idea of dying them another color.

My main concern is IF one does break, where do you get a new one?

Well, to a certain point...

They will not break if installed properly. Read the instructions *carefully*, even if you're not the one who will be installing the bushings, including the addendum which has a picture of a bushing someone tried to push *all* the way through the suspension piece. The flanges *will* pop off or crack if you bottom the bushings out in the suspension piece and apply more force. You would too, with 10+ tons of force on your head.

The nylon is very durable, and will not crack or split in the suspension under load. However, it is fairly hard, and a good shot from another hardened object (like a hammer) will crack it or knock a chip out. Again, it'd do the same to your mellon, so don't hit them with hammers for chrissakes.

Bottom line is, excercise some common sense and you won't have any problems.

Well, I certainly DON' T plan on hitting it with a hammer. My real question was the bushings vs. age vs. mileage. Will it ever come to a point where they will crack due to age or mileage?

I mean they seem almost indestructible, but I AM curious about their life, though.

Extremely doubtful. I've got a set of fronts that were just taken off a car after a year and a half, and other than road grime, they show almost no signs of wear.

When Photopoint comes back up, I'll be happy to post pics if you'd like.

I don't think they would ever crack from normal use (anything short of a major accident that bends/breaks the suspension arms). I am somewhat concerned about wear, however. I highly recommend that you use grease (rather than anti-sieze, etc.) on the center pins and better yet install grease fittings so you can keep them lubed.

Naa. Don't worry about it, but thanks.

Hey Max, I WILL add the greasefittings. I've already heard from a few people that they may get rather loud after a while, and they have personally heard them, too.

Road noise I can deal with. Creecking is another

Max, (or anyone)

Where can I find info on these "grease fittings" and where to purchase them?

NAPA has grease fittings. Or if you want stainless steel zerk fittings try:
