Thumbs up I fyou take off your intake manifold do you have to get a new gasket.

I am planning on polishing my intake manifold but i want to make sure before i take it off that i need a new gasket or reuse the stock one.

I wanna know too Im taking off UIM to replace wires and plugs, do i need to replace gasket?

If the current one is in good condition, then no. Just don't damage it.

When I took mine off the gasket was the old paper kind. I think you should replace the gasket if it is the old paper kind anyway and get the metal one, it's only $7 I think. If you have the metal one already then don't worry about it.

i just took mine off to replace all the coolant hoses. i forgot the TQ values of the IM and the TB. if anyone can share these, please do.

Rule of thumb is to replace then whenever you remove a part...I am in the middle of the hose job and just bout gaskets for ACV, UIM, TB and the TB o-ring...ordered it through my mech and with shipping it was $61...seemed kinda expensive to me

That does sound a little expensive. I get all my dealer parts from www.mazdaformance.com. They're like 25% cheaper than the dealer and are awesome to deal with.

Since the gaskets are metal, you shouldn't have to replace it.

IIRC, torque values for the 12mm TB and UIM bolts/nuts is around 20 - 25 ft-lbs.

you use an angle die grinder with a roloc bit and scrotchbrite which is equal to a 400 grit sandpaper, then after that you do 800 and 1000 then polish it with some **** i got at the swapmeet...
