No seriously, I believe the engine has been rebuilt or replaced. The odom. reads really close to 200 grand. I got the original motor, engine tag number from mazda of what the original block would be, but I'm gonna get the core numbers off the engine if I can ever find them. Supposedly there behind the waterpump, anyone have an easy way to get the numbers.

Could it be your running a cold spark plug(10 or above). I run 9's and premix all the time and never have had a problem. In my first gen I run an oz of Amsoil racing to each gallon. 3rd gen 6 oz per tank of some high detergent 2 cycle oil.

I use 4-6 oz of oil per fillup with either Pettit Protek or Klotz synthetic 2 stroke oil. No issues whatsoever. I only get smoke if I mistakingly add way too much. In that case I just skip the oil at the next fillup.

I use about 300ml per 40litres of fuel (no OMP)...
BTW, I was told NOT to use 2-stroke oil, as it contains too much detergent... I use the same oil I use in my engine - Shell 20-50 Multigrade.

built my own engine
i've been running 1oz of redline synthetic ($40/gal) to 1gal of 100octane ($3.35/gal) and the combination is awesome w/ no OMP, i am contemplating doing a 50/50mix of 93/100 and keeping the 1oz:1gal ratio of premix
my bridge cranks right up, no more hesitation during city driving, boosts great, pulls hard

You know the other thing I didn't take into account was the fact that I also changed the oil at the same time. I didn't think nothing of it. I used castrol 10-30 non synthetics. Could it be possible that if the previous owner used a different type of oil grade, perhaps even synthetic, that it would significantly change the performance of the engine, by changing to the 10-30. The reason I ask is because I also noticed a rise in engine temperatures as well. From the two changes made: only changed the oil, and added 2 stroke.

Well actually its 12 inches, but when I added the 2 stroke in the gas it went up to about 14 inches but it didn't stay that way for long, but it may be a malfunction in my gauge. It's a sunpro and that might be my problem, because the directions said to just put the tube in the ferral nut but it's not even a tight fit plugging into the back of the gauge. I'm all screwed up.

What brand name oil is Pettit Protek? We all know he doesn't own an oil well.... The oil he labels is like a brick red color.... Does anyone have an idea?

the rumor is that pettit is relabeled yamaha sea doo or some such. it is soild any tcw3 should be fine. but premixing is not using MMO or putting regular oil in the gas it is using 2 stroke oil in the fuel for the purpose of protecting/lubricating the combustion chamber.

I have used pettit protec and 2-stroke motorcycle oil. 4 oz per tank. I use the 2- stroke oil all the time because its cheaper and it works. I have been doing this for about 8k km on a new motor with no problems. I do run an OMP but I don't know how well it works so I pre-mix to be on the safe side.

I premix on my first gen and its my daily driver. I use 1 oz per gallon, of MMO. Ive been doing this for about 10,000 miles now and the engine pulls just as hard as when I finished the break in.
With that said there are a few things you third gen owners shoudl know especially about premixing 2 stroke oil. The first thing is it WILL lower your octane rating.
The second thing is it will destroy your cats. Only run it if you have no cats.
MMO will work fine for premixing, and in my opinion it works much much better than a normal 2 stroke would anyway. MMO will also clean out your fuel system as well as work twoards cleaning up carbon. This is because of the extremely large amounts of detergents in MMO.
