I have owned my car since 1998 and I can honestly say that I have only come across one hater. He was a coworker and a nissan lover. One day after work i showed him my taillights and he never said another word again.

But not once has a person said to me thats its old, or I should sell it, or I should put an lsx in it. Never. In fact all I ever get is compliments and questions. Some questions may be in the realm of engine life, but they arent being said with a malicious tone just an inquisitive one.

I don't know maybe its my attitude. Meaning people can tell that I just love this car. A few years back I started getting a little self conscious about it. As people who barely know me start asking how the car is... Like its my child or something lol.

Funny you mention VR. If I do go for another, I will be looking for a VR or CYM.

Yeah I agree with all posts. I traded my perfectly running sc300 5spd for a full shell, bought an engine, and am waiting for a new clutch slave. All my car buddies are waiting for my ruthie to get on the road, I do have 1 hater tho. Friend with a j30 who did a manual swap and thinks his car is the best thing ever. Off track, but this was my dream car sincr I firat laid eyes on it way back when. Went through 4 fcs cause I just felt I coyld never afford one, then boom! Guy wanted a straight trade on my lex, only to text me an hour later that he wanted his car back lol. Never selling my fd and she is my last toy car!

OP, you're going to get alot of flak for owning the FD aside from praise. i know i have, whether its on the road or off it. a few of my close friends and all of my family were against me every step of the way into gettin the car. all that turned to envy once they saw it parked outside my house.

for 2 years i had to put up with alot of negative BS. now that the car is running and is complete, i hear wonderful silence. maybe a scream of "STOP!" and "WTF ARE YOU DOING?!" or 2, but thats about it.

people expect that when you buy a car, you're buying one that is going to just be 110% ready-to-go-and-never-fails reliable. they just arent gearheads with an enthusiasm for a pure bred sports car. they see things differently than we do and unfortunately that wont ever change. in short, dont listen to them. its your cash, your car, your decision

also a good defense when they start talking about costs: "people pay 75k to get the driving experience and performance that i have, and i just spent under 20k". that shuts them up real good.

Hehe its well over 20k but I get your point... I'm glad to see there literally people from everywhere, different ages and backgrounds that made that special bond with the car.

You guys have to see this movie if you already have not...

A fresh vr looks amazing.

I know people have different preferences but idk yellow cars are only proper with exotics Imo.

Only yellow cars I can drive/own are ferraris and lambos lol

Not big on yellow period, but when it comes to a FD is different. CYM where only produced in some what small number and for one year. So it is more of owning something rarer than it is.

About the same thing with me... always people saying that that the Fd looks great (especialy now that i had it painted white with spec 99 front bumper and wing)

Even this one time there was this girl that asked me if i was the owner of the Rx7, and i sayd yeah, and she goes and says "i think my boyfriend loves your car more than me" and i was like LOL XD

And no.. i will never sell it

The FD will always remain the definition of "unique" - go against the herd, swim upstream - builds character

No matter how many times my wife, wanted me to sell the 93 VR, even when it wasn't driven for 5 yrs... I couldn't pull the trigger.

Now I have an ex-wife and was in the beginning process of rebuilding the 93 VR....lol somehow I got sidetracked again and just bought a 93 CYM (all w/in the last year)

However, I have a good home for the 93 VR coming...my ex-wife's nephew wants it.

Really, how many almost 20yr old cars look as good as good as the 7, I think it's timeless beauty.

posted a link to pics of my car, instead of posting the pics in this thread...

deal fell through on my fd as i had the car on the trailer and i took it as a sign to not sell the car.

i'd regret selling it for the rest of my life. even though i need the money and it has a blown trans right now so it's not doing me any good.

I'm in a emotional low with my FD right now. Haven't driven it in about 6 months after a disappointing tune and finding several trouble spots. Wife is given me a lot of grief and says I should not have ever bought it. All I can do shrug my shoulders and wait for school to be over and have more time to fix it. Wish I had more space, tools, & knowledge to take care of some things I'll need to do in a couple years or so.

Man you are in the tough spot.. . I hope you don't drop the ball. I think knowledge is the key here. More you know things start becoming easier. You know that feeling when you have lots of money in something but not sure if it was the right thing to do... plus you have someone to remind you about it... Intensity of that sucky feeling will start dropping, more you learn about the car. I wish I new this much when I bought the car, it would save me tons of time and money... So learn sooner, find used tools on the craigslist ... 1 Garage space is all you probably need.I hope you don't park your car outside. ... But its probably easy for me to say all these things. Good luck

One of the first things I have told ALL my significant others and family is, I will never part with my FD and if you say anything negative about my hobby, it will be a deal breaker. For as long as I owned it, no one has said anything negative.

I have to agree with everyone about the sale/selling of the FD.
I will never sell it.
I love my FD so much, but there are a couple of things that make me sad when I look at it sitting in my driveway.

1)I dont have a garage I can keep it in.

2)There are too many spiders to keep my car from getting webs on it.

3)I am still paying it off, so no money to purchase parts for it.

Don't get me wrong.

Every time I look at it, it makes me smile.

I love driving it on long trips to different spots and meets.

I have no where to work on my car and I don't have any tools.

So whenever I have something that needs to be done/fixed, I have to take it to the mechanic down the street from my house.
I get charged an arm and a leg to get stuff fixed or changed....
