hows this turbo look ?

so bought a "good no cracks no shaft play" turbo on FB marketplace and got this in today
needless to say i am waiting on paypal for a refund and still looking for a good turbo for my 95 but dont have enought post yet for the market place here so wanted to share my pic for a post count lol

Looks like that seller was smoking crack

lol ya i messaged him and said WTF no cracks? lol he said oh send it back then i will refund you .. ya ok i will wait on paypal like i am going to trust this guy again

That's about par for the course with an N3A1 turbo. They all crack like that. That one is getting to the "you should be worried" point.

Exhaust gasses don't care if the turbo looks pretty. The only time cracking is a problem is -

- it gets under the gasket and blows it out
- the waste gate has cracks around it and can't seal

Besides that it's cosmetic. But if it's advertised as "no cracks" that's definitely not it .

Is that mud or just rust from coolant spitting out of it? I mean besides the cracks, that thing has seen better days.

Who was the seller? Maybe they're here and maybe we can give em **** for selling you that nightmare.

That tan color is normal for the turbos. REALLY hot carbon deposits.

I've never seen that before. Definitely not normal for my stock turbos, which had over 100K on them when I replaced them. It was much darker and much less prevalent.

not calling the dude out he agreed to refund threw paypal sending it back to him on Monday so im all good unless he tries to pull something else then i will put them on blast ...lol, and just FYI he said it was a good unit no cracks no shaft play 80k on it ...
