How would a rotary handle an AWD Powertrain?

I was thinking, a crazy project would be an FD with a 20B engine on a G35 Coupe AWD Powertrain (I figure the G35 because its one of the only longitudinal oriented engine because of it being RWD/AWD instead of FWD/AWD, so it would be easier?)

I dont suppose the lack of torque would make it wrong for an AWD platform? or would AWD help it?

To my knowledge the only G35 to come with AWD was the sedan(G35x), the coupe did not get the awd tranny. The new G37 coupe on the other hand IS offered in an AWD.

Theres nothing stopping a rotor being mounted E-W.

A guy over here in NZ had a FWD rotary 80 something (maybe 1989) 323 sedan. Lawton Rotorsport was the place.

Edit: I didnt say it was a "good" idea.....just that it can be done.

i'm suprised that this hasnt come up yet, but check out this post from the 2nd gen forum. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...&highlight=awd

also you can search on youtube for millen awd and you should find some videos of it. i'm pretty sure he had a 13b and a 20b version.

I have been racking my brain trying to find this. Wasn't there a 3 rotor AWD FD back in the mid 90's?

I remember seeing a pic of a FD that was blue and white racing down a mountain road. I don't remember if it was at Pike Peak or where but I do remember the description of the car. I am pretty sure it was an AWD 3 rotor.

Maybe you would like to google for Rod Millen 4WD RX7?

This was an FD, not an FC. If no one else has heard of it, I must be mistaken.
