is this the lower cup-like bushing for the bottom ball of the shifter or the semi circle looking one? How do they look when compared to the stock ones ?

Hammer harder

You have to hit it perfectly square

The OEM Mazda one is a tough press fit as well.

I have the same shifter....I used a new OEM Mazda bush when I did the shifter install.

The brass bushing sits down in the cup recessed into the shifter housing, theres no need to install it on the end of the shifter.

Also, the RE-A piece lowers the shift **** but doesn't actually change the length of the shift throw. I used one for about two days then uninstalled it. Rocking a C's piece now

You should not have to hammer it in, just drop it in like Rich said, I have had 2 of these already and both install went smoothly...

It does reduce the shift throw, simple maths says so (due to the reduced height).

I calculated it as a 14% reduction. Not as big a reduction as most, but a reduction regardless.

If the throw is made too short, I find I tend to grind gears as I end up shifting too quickly. The Re-Amemiya shifter is a nice compromise....OEM feel (still has the rubber isolator), shorter throw, and reduced height makes it perfect.

^^I had moved from a B&M to the RE-A, i'll bet that's why the RE-A felt like stock. The B&M has some very short throws. Thanks for the input
