How to turn a 12sec fd into a 13sec fd

http://cs.widener.edu/~epanek/Rx7tt-13.mpg

13.4 at 118.
Nuff' said. apologies to anyone who ever launched an rx7. in my defense i got to the strip at 8pm and didn't get that run in till 10:30, the only run of the nite. constant rain in the NE held everyone away until last friday and when we finally got a break it was packed, thats cecil co. , MD.

MODS
pettit intake
pettic cc2 IC
KDR ported engine
light flywheel
act hd clutch
ntech hi flo cat
rb dualtip exhaust
power fc, set at 13 lbs, or .9bar, only hit .85 on that run
tires were s-03s at 34lbs press.
also b&m short shifter, eibach springs, think thats about it. dave at kdr says good for 350rwhp or so. dynoing for hp on 21st.
anyway there it is fwiw

ok, that was only SLIGHTLY embarrasing for that neon. I mean you ran a 13.5 and still owned it. thats too bad for him.

i live 20 minutes away from cecil co. dragway... it's not too bad, but there is always a ton of white-trash-wanna-be-thugged-out-ricers there, and i really can't stand going...

anyway, get a nice launch in there, and with that trap speed you have, we'll be seeing some pretty nice times good luck!

118 trap is good for atleast a mid-low 12 sec. run, easy. Just work on the launch and you got it, nice run.

You trapped almost 119 with a high flow cat, stock turbos, and at 12 psi (0.85 on the commander)???

Jesus, did Dave drop a 20B in when you weren't looking ?

i would say a 118 trap is more indicitive of an 11 second FD.

That is an amazing trap for boost and mods...simply amazing...i would think more along the lines of 110-113!!!

Launch/tires is everything with our cars at the strip. Once you have it where it makes the power down the track (which you do), then get some DRs or ET-streets and perfect the launch.

MPH is good..... someone is catching up to boostn7!

if you get et streets, etc be prepared you may snap an axle or break your diff, etc......... but it will drop atleast one second or more off your ET

13.50's is more like my FD runs with a 104mph trap...bogging with the alum flywheel or spinning the hell out of my street tires...

i'd like to get at least one run in the 12s but beyond that i'm not a hard core drag racer, just want to make sure the car is as fast as it feels. the turbos are vaguely recently rebuilt <20,000 miles on em, ported wastegate...saw some local guys in the thread, any suggestions where to run and actually not have to wait 2.5hrs? atco, etown?

Wow, very nice trap speed!

How large of a streetport do you have? Please post the dyno results once you get them.

i ran 12.0 @ 118 shifting slow for comparison!

how far away are you from www.islanddragway.com ??

that is gonna be your best bet for getting the most runs in. on a FLUKE at etown you will get more than 3 runs.......... anyway. if you are gonna go let me know and i'll take a ride... fixing my hydraulic problem as we speak i hope!

Damn 13.4 and still enough hp to pull 118.7 mph. That would take ~400 rwhp.

My thoughts exactly... One of my buddies has a 71 camaro and he runs 11.06 @ 126mph, so a high 11 should put you at that speed.... of course like you say, with a better launch

Maybe not quite 400rwhp to go that fast. Pocket dyno would tell you......

SPOAutos ran a 12.5ish at 125 without launching the hell out of it or shifting hard. Get some drag radials or something, heh.

about 100miles from island dragway.

i was surprised at the trap too, hope it wasn't a fluke or messed up timing gear at cecil....

any launching tips? my 13.2 i got (before ic, boost, tuning) with massive and painful wheel hop. higher revs and dump or lower revs and slip?

Careful that you don't break your PPF

i drove streetdreamzny FD on the track.... my first time ever driving a sequential FD... i ran 13.5 @ 109 or something like that. i had to beat my friend in his 240sx with sr20det anyway i did a burnout then launched at 6000 rpm dumping the clutch on street tires.... i also drove shadow27's at the track i ran 14.3 missing 3rd gear.... his car is evil. i would say try slipping it its bad for your clutch but it works REALLY well
