Question how to test my stock fuel gauge?

how do i test to see if my fuel gauge works in my FD. my PFC says that my fuel sensor is working at around 3-5V. i think that it might just be the fuel gauge and i need to figure out how to test it.

why do you think something is wrong with it? what is it doing? unplug it turn the key on does the needle move? short it does the needle move? remove the entire fuel pump assembly and ohm the sensor as you move the level float up and down do you have a gradual change in the reading?

The PFC is telling you information from the Fuel Thermosensor....has nothing to do with the fuel gauge. You are working on something for no good reason.

yeah i found that out yesterday but that still doesnt change to fact that my fuel gauge doesnt work. i still need to test the gauge to see if i need to replace it or if i need to replace the fuel level sender.

ohm the connector on the fuel assembly, watch the reading as you move the float through the travel. look for steady increase/decrease as the float goes up and down.

short it i ment short the signal to gague to ground

you gauge takes time to go to the proper spot. you cannot turn it on and instantly think it will go all the way up. Like Tom said you are working on your fuel pump and you are asking about your thermosensor on the secondary fuel rail. All that does is tell the ECU what temp your fuel is at so it can adjust accordingly
