How to test air injection

From my recent emissions drama, i learned how the air injection works on the fd. When the car is first started or cold, air is not sent directly to the main cat, only has port air injection. After a min or when the ecu switches to split air injection it will rout air to the cat and it will still have port injection. As the rpms rise so should the amount of air going into the main cat. At 3k it will shut off the air pump. So to test it just disconnect the hose by the cat to see if the air injection system is working. And if air injection is not working properly it would be almost impossible to pass emissions testing. Another good side effect of a proper working air injection is that my car no longer smokes at startup. Before when it was cold it would smoke for about 10-30 sec. I thought it was the turbos burning a little oil but it was because there was no port injection at all so it was lots of unburnt fuel.
