How to tell what number my FD is

Hey guys I bought this car at 16 after I’ve saved up from welding at my dads company now I’m 17 and realize this 95 US spec FD I got from an older gentleman is actually more special than even I thought. If I’m correct they made 500 in 95’? And I was wondering how to tell what my production number is

Being the 95's have the same upgrades as the 94's, there is nothing special about them. Other than being a 95 that is.

As far as your question is concerned, your answer lies in the VIN:

Example VIN: JM1FD3311P0200001
  • "JM1" World Manufacturer Identifier" for Mazda
  • "FD" RX-7 third generation series
  • "33" Body style ("33" = coupe)
  • "1" Misc. ID field (1993: "1" = US, "2" = Canada.)
    • (1994: "3" = manual seat belts, 2 airbags)
    • (1995: "3" = manual seat belts, 2 airbags)
  • "1" Check Digit" (used to verify that a VIN is not bogus) Calculated for each year.
  • "P" Year model code (1993 = "P")
    • (1994 = "R")
    • (1995 = "S")
  • (Q was not used)
  • "0" Assembly plant code ("0" = Hiroshima)
  • "200001" Serial number
    • (1993: started with 200001)
    • (1994: started with 300001)
    • (1995: started with 400001)
So yours is #100

To the OP: Special in what way? BAT thinks they're special enough that they're going for big money now a days even with higher mileage. What you do with the car will determine how special it will continue to be. Wall tapped Drift missile = not special.

Unhappy

This got me curious about mine. So i tried breaking it down with the example vin. I have a 'X' in my vin where the check digit is. I tried using the vin decoder and it says the vin isnt right. Any ideas, hope im just missing something.

the check digit can be 0-9 and X. there are 50, 1995 FD's with an X check digit. how is that for odd trivia?

That is odd trivia. Mine is a 93 but its in line with what you are saying. I have tons of paperwork on it from the original owner. The same vin is on all of it. He kept everything in manilla folders. Thanks for the info. Didnt mean to hi jack op. At least its on the same subject

What does X check digit indicate? Just sequentially 1 of every 11?

Where do you get the extra information like color, engine number, date of manufacture, and new sale date that doesn't show up on the rx7club vin decoder?
