Good point. Also, it is nice to get the tools for automotive electrical plugs/sockets. They are acturally GM part numbers but you can get em thru CTW ELECTRICAL. They basically look like precision screwdrivers except they have small blade & small round tube ends to remove pins from male/female connectors.
You can buy new connectors but I never found where you could buy just a few, had to get like 100 min, but as mentioned above, they can usually be reused.
Nice to have the special ratcheting crimp tool for the pin-connectors too.

 

just a fyi, the ecu connectors are the same for a mitsu 2000-2005 eclipse 2.4l, evo8. galant 2.4 should be same too. how do i know? i have the connectors

 

i picked up another harness with low miles to do the single simplification, and the new harness has 2 wires for the o2 while my o2 sensor has a single wire o2 which my original harness has as well. i'm not sure what i need to do. everything else makes perfect sense, so far.

If you plan on running a wideband, just remove it from harness.. but leave 1 lead about 24" long (the one that goes the 02 sensor pin on the PFC). Then just have the narrow band output from your wideband controller plugged into the PFC. Or you can just disable the 02 feedback on the PFC and remove it completely.

 

I am about to tackle this with a extra harnes I just picked up. If any of you guys can help me please let me know what else I can remove.

one of the wires on the new clip is green with a pale green stripe, it looks like its just a ground so i could just use the old clip i suppose.

but, i was going thru my tuning notes(or chucks notes rather) and since i dont have any idle control, or airpump i need to disable the o2 feedback anyways. so it can be removed completly apparently.

i also have a wideband already with outputs, would it be worth it to keep the o2 or should i just link my wideband with my datalogit instead?

 

Alex we should make a ALL inclusive Single Turbo Relay/Fuse box relocation Wiring DIY and make it a sticky.

I disabled the 02 input on the PFC and have my wideband 0-5V output to the datalogit. I've been real happy with this setup. So think you should do the same.

just pulled my harness just now. This harness is extra crispy but im hoping to clean up the mess of a bundle of unused plugs under the uim. i know theres been discussion of what people wrap their harness with for the heat, so wondering if anyone picked up these supplies at a local store like home depot for self fusing silicone tape, high temp wire loom, friction tape, and reflective tape.

i just did this my self, what i did was cut all the wires for the sensor and injectors that i was keeping abou 20" from the ecu conector, that took care of removing the crispy part of the wiring, then i went to this site. They have pretty much all color wires,striped on pretty much all sizes needed.

I order 10' of striped wire for to match the factory colors, then i solder the wires and sorder the end of the sensor connector to the new wire. I also order new injector conectors from Ballanger Motorports.

Yeah let's see the pics. My harness is just sitting there waiting for me to decide what's the best way to wrap it. I picked up some self fusing silicone tape but I keep hearing about friction tape too

Where's everyone getting their wire loom? Is the nylon wire loom preferred or will the other type work also

 

Just got done pulling all this but I just realized I pulled the purge control and now I'm looking how to remove the rest of the system with that tank thing under the throttle body

 

just remove the line all the way back to the gas tank, leave a little and put a small breather on it and run the line up above the chassis area to keep crap out of it.

^^^ you should add some zip ties and tame that mess or it gets tangled and wont close up as nice^^^

 

thanks silver! i just got done yanking all the hardlines and purge solenoid out. I have everything pulled out the harness except fuel temp because i noticed it doesnt run to ecu yellow plugs and i have a plug that was removed but the wiring was still left. it looks like a black/green wire and black wire. I ran these wires back and they go to the blue plug by the ecu plugs. This is my first time pulling the harness off so im guessing these are the airpump wires. Can anyone confirm that the airpump wires go to blue plug and fuel temp goes to white plug inside the car. thanks

 

no problem. if you search purge control in the single section, cewrx7(chuck westbrook) explains it a little better. u might have to dig a little though.

 

yeah i was doing some searching. found people leaving it and some venting it. So i guess im going the venting route. Still trying to find out what these other unknown wires are coming from the blue interior plug. Im searching the fsm but just find ecu plug pinouts

 

Quick question. Is the water temp sender gauge the same wire as the coolant level switch. Cause I took my harness all apart and I'm left with a wire that connects the two. One end by the spark plugs and the other by where the radiator hose connects. I'm just making sure this is normal before I wrap it all back up
