how to route hood cable thru firewall?
Alright, I think I have another dumb question: My hood cable (finally) snapped at the green push-nut or whatever it is at the latch. I ordered another one but I can't figure out how to get it thru the firewall. All the threads I found said "Just replace it, it's cheap and easy!" so I feel really dumb for asking.
It comes into the cabin behind the cabin fuse box, but I can't figure out how to remove the fuse box to get at the grommet. I removed the nut holding the fuse box under the footrest, but it feels like the fuse box is still attached at the top, but I can't find anything on top. I'm reluctant to pull on it too hard, cause I don't want to break any wires. I'm sure I'm missing something easy. Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

I just replaced my hood latch cable a couple weeks ago, I did not have to remove the fuse box.
To remove the old cable I removed the cruise control module to gain access to the grommet on the engine side of the firewall, then used a screwdriver to gently push the grommet through to the other side of the firewall.
To install the new cable I had a light on the engine side of the firewall so I could see the opening where the cable routes through the firewall, once I got the cable through the firewall I gently pulled on the cable to seat the grommet into the firewall opening.

Same here, I did not have to remove the fuse box.
One thing I did to make it easier though. Before you pull the old cable out, detach it from the hood release and tie a long wire to it. As you remove the old cable the wire will follow the stock routing. You can then use that wire to pull the new cable through and not have to worry about it.
