How to repair broken driver's side storage compartment?

What's the best way to fix this thing? It's starting to bother me and I want to fix it...

Is the lid popping off all of the time? If thats what it is all I did was I drilled out the little nipple that was broken off and inserted a 2" rivet (or a nail or anything like that) and now it never pops off. I wish I could show you some pictures but my car is in the body shop till the end of the month.

I'm pretty sure they only sell the whole thing and it's about $150.

You can get a thin piece of aluminum flashing, drill a hole in it, epoxy it in place, and put the pin back in. Or you can just get a new one...
