How to remove diff shaft clips?

Title says it. I usually wouldn't ask something as mundane as thing but.

How do you remove the axel clips. They are the little clips on the end of the axel. Factory spec is a maximum of 32mm wide side to side side and mine is 32.5mm so I wanna change mine, tried a flathead screwdrive but didn't really wanna hack up stuff too much as they weren't comming easy so I let it go.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks/.

Push in on the axle, then go back to the clip and use a magnet. .

I am talking about the little C clip which goes into the differential.

I don't see how pushing in the axel will change anything it is on there good, unless I have a rare earth type magnet.....

So I pryed one off only thing is to get the new one back on what a nightmare. I get it back on but it is 33.56mm when factory max tolerance is 32mm.

So then I ask myself am I an idiot or what? But I measure the ones I bought from Ray Crowe, and they are 32.4mm.... Is there any reason that it would be out of spec from the manufacturer???

Any help would be really appreciated, this is the stupidest thing that has ever held me up.

I measuring as per the book. With the clip on the shaft with the clip facing upwards on the outside edges.

Ok but when its installed its going to compress until it reaches the inside slot that it rides in and will spring out partly. If you can install it but not pull it out easley i would say its fine.

It installs in the groove but is very very loose, I am thinking the only thing to do is to compress it overnight with a visegrip and see if that helps.

The problem with those clips is to make them smaller you need to remove them from the axel, then use a vise to squash them Past where the 2 ends would normall meet.

Then when you go to put them on the axel again, you end up bending them bigger....

The maximum tolerance is just there to help you get them into the diff. If it is too big it will just be a little harder to push the axel back in.

Basically if you can get them into the diff, and they don't come back out easily (like without prying them) then they are fine.

(BTW.... yes.. it sucks trying to put the clips on an axel... )
