how reliable is a 3rd gen?

I have a friend who has a 2nd gen RX-7 and aside from most normal crap that goes wrong in a car thats got 220,000 miles on it, it been a very relable car. I was looking at getting a nice used car the other day, and I remebered that I liked the look of 3rd gen RX-7's. Some are in my price range (10-13K) and I had heard that the things are nightmares to keep. Is that true?

The car is in your price range but the maintance might not be...

There are some good links in the newbie sticky at the top of this section. Also if you do a search for reliability you should come up with alot as this has been covered alot.

Well... You should look at the first thread on this forum and read up a little bit on used FD's... You ask a very tough questions. How reliable is the 3rd Gen RX-7??? Depends on alot of factors... Bottom line is that you will be buying a 8 to 9 year old car... You will run into problems... But the FD is just a very different animal and needs alot of care and attention. Take care of the car and it will take care of you...
