How Rare is an FD with Silver Ext and Red Leather interior

Hello All,

I am in the process of getting a 1993 FD with 14000 original miels. Touring edition with Bose sound system. I am just wondering how rare this color combo is.

Its factory ext silver paint with factory red leather interior and door trim.

regards

there were 1011 Silver 93 Tourings imported into America. Of those, I have no clue how many had red interiors, but like BoostedFd3s said, 14000 miles is very rare.

'94 silver with red are much more rare than the 93's. The really rare one is a 94 black with red interior. I've seen a lot of FD's in my life, but I've never seen a 94 black with red interior in the flesh....only in photos. It's kind of like the Yeti of FD's.

A couple more pics

Two more for the fun of it.

So whats a car like this worth? Assuming it is real miles and original paint as presented to me. I have to make my inspection but all the docs and info thus far indicate it to be a correct low miles unmolested original car.

I was told that about only +-50 with this color combo were produced. I have no idea if that was for 93 alone or for all the silvers. I would have to guess for 93 alone. Anyone know where the stats are or if they exist at all showing interior colors?

So that means that a +-50 cars for 93, 94, and 95 might not be too far out. That seems to me then that they are on the rare side. Would love to see the black with red as well. I am very close to buying this one. Will be leaving a deposit on it next week if it all checks out-which I whcih I see no issue thus far.

Yes, too far out if you're talking U.S. cars. I don't know about Canadian sales.
In the U.S. the silver / red combo was featured in at least two car mags when the FD hit the market. One of these was a long term test. So the color combo had plenty of "advertising."

With so many '93 cars, and silver a popular color, it would be unreasonable to expect only a couple of dozen of them had red interiors, especially since the Touring model was the most popular option.

94 was a different situation. IMO, the more subdued combo, eliminating the red interior panels was better looking. But sales were dropping by that time and you don't see many silver/red 94's.

In Canada, these cars are as rare as hens teeth. (It's not often you seem them on the road in the U.S. either.....although it's not unheard of to pass one in FLA or Calif. even in recent times.) So whatever color you buy in the Great White North is going to be rare. But in the U.S. a 93 silver / red is not super rare. A '94 silver / red IS relatively rare. And, as I say, a black / red 94 is the Yeti of FD's. I'd like to capture one myself.

With FDs miles and condition count more than anything else(unless you're talking about a LHD 95).

For one that clean with those few miles, assuming it's mechanically sound...it's worth as much as you'll pay for it. I'd estimate maybe $18-20k if it's in good running condition.

And in '94 there were 218 silver cars imported into the U.S. with leather interiors.
That includes Touring models and those with the Popular Equipment package.

So, you add the two years together you come up with 1,229. If you figure at least 15-20% of those silver cars with leather interiors came in red that would make somewhere between 184 to 245 cars running around with the silver / red combo.

With a silver car the only choice you had in a leather color was either black or red.
While black is more prevalent, I'd be willing to bet money that red comprises at least 15% of the total. And that's a conservative estimate.

A friend of mine has a 93 touring with red interior, but it's the only one I've ever seen in person, and it's pretty ragged out these days.

Red Interior

I am seeing that it is a little more common than I expected but still a rarer interior color. I have to admit that I had never seen on live and never new that they made a red interior for the FD (or did not pay attention) until I found this one. Just like I found my first red leather interior 1992 300 ZX last month while searching for sale adds on the net.

Non the less I like the Combo contrast of the silver and red/black interior and hope this car turns out to be as presented. I will know soon but see no reason to doubt it as all indications thus far (two owners, clean car fax, and all receipts for service) seem to point to a honest low miles original car. She will look nice in my garage next to my 1974 RX4 Coupe.

I have a silver with red 93 touring and there were 824 silverstone metallics in 1993. I have no idea how many of those had the red leather...it is rare. I would love to know how much you are grabbing that for. There was one with 16k on it on ebay about 3 months ago that went for 26k!!!

man, I was hoping this was not a rare interior color. I'm big into the miata world, and mazda did an idential interior treatment in the 1993 limited edition miata. It was limited to 1500 cars in the us. Black exterior only. One guy swapped the interior into a silver first gen, and it looked great. The interior was also seen on a white exterior miata in japan, the M2 edition.

I wish this was a common interior for FD's, I'm researching, considering finally getting one, and would love to swap in this interior. Good luck with the car!

Nice color combination. With those miles, it should be a solid car. IMHO, buy it if you like it, the rarity is just icing on the cake.
