If a Miata is too small, an FD is too small. The interior on a Miata is actually roomier than the interior on the FD, though being a hard top hatch, the FD does have more storage area.

a nice RWD starter car would be a 240 or maybe an older Mustang. an old Corolla is fine as well, but care of the drifter fad, they are grossly overpriced.

A big hassle, but it's going to be worth it. I've been seeing some ULTRA CLEAN swaps, so that was the motivation.

I was going to go with a C5 Z06, but the price on the C6 was just too good to pass up.

Haven't seen ya around in a while. Still battlin' out the n00bs in the Kill Section?
cool. Glad you stuck with the project, that will make it even more self fullfilling once you get that beast complete.

No kills for me. My wastegate line came off and pop went my engine...23 psi oof! At least it wasn't a rotary related problem, no engine would have survived 11 lbs above tuned boost level. So my car has been in the shop for about nine months. Total make over, full respray from montego blue to velocity yellow (yeah you know where that's from ) to new engine and upgraded to a GT35R with all of the goodies good for 400+ RWHP

I meant small as in the whole car ( body ), not the interior. Sorry for the confusion.

I guess the 240 would be the best bet as a starter RWD huh? Lots of potential with a SR ( idk if they're legal in MA? ) even some potential for the KA, being able to be tuned to be a KA-T.

Yeah when I checked some time ago AE86's were going for $5K, now they've dropped down into the $2-4K range.

You don't need "potential" for a first car. Learn how to drive before trying to kill others on the road.

Bur yes, an S13 can be had for cheap, they are easy to drive, they have 4 seats and a hatch. Plenty of space.

FD3S Maniac, do you know anything about SR swaps and the legality?

Having a hard time getting used to the 240 forums, not as half as many people on that forum as there is on here.

they are 100% legal if nobody knows... but if your insurance finds out thats a different story. SR's weren't really illegal when i had mine. The DMV never asks those questions and i didn't have emissions back in Michigan. nicoclub.com is a good nissan forum. I really dont know your state laws to help you with that situation, but plenty of people do it... they just dont tell the people who care.

I bought my RX7 when I was 21 for myself for my 22nd b-day.

Unfortunately, some unexpected college tuition increase forced me to sell a mere 7 months after owning it.

24 yrs old.... July of 2006

Picked it up at 3am at my shop where the semi dropped it off. Drove around for 2 hours, parked it in the shop, and drove the pickup 150 miles BACK to where my family was camping.

I had to leave camp at 12am to make it back home by 3am to get my new baby. Got back to camp a litte after 8am, crashed for 3 hours, and then fished for 2 days thinking nothing about the two hour drive i had taken early that morning.

Bought my RX7 off ebay in March of '06 off ebay @ 21 while I was going to school in Hawaii...Had my dad pick it up and run it over to Gotham for matinence...wound up with a $7,000 bill. After that my dad just drove it once every couple weeks. I just finally got to meet my car in March and have been enjoying it and chasing down gremlins here or there...I'll never buy a car off ebay again, but I love it enough to fix it. 1993 black R1.

I took out a loan right when I turned 17 to pick up a 93 silver/red, but a nice MR2 turned up for sale for half the price. I always wondered what could've been and now I'm living the nightmare/dream.

2/16/08 Was when I got my FD at 23 years old. I got my first rx7 (87 base) July 2002 and have owned many different rx7s ever since then. For a first rwd car the FC or the FB/SA can be very nice. It would be a good platform to start learning how to drive. If you don't care about having back seats. FYI their are some models floating out their that are 2+2.

What about the MR2? The only "flaw" I can see is that it's a RMR platform... but I really do like T tops. Are RMR engines hard to work on? Most people say it just takes a little more time. I think it's basically like a FF car, since the engine is partially above the rear wheels. It just seems to be an awkward place to work on an engine. Would shops charge extra since it's a RMR?

thinking about picking up a 240 for my DD/beater/gas sipper, the FD has been a pain on my gas bill and even tho I bought it to use as my DD, I've just been borrowing my dad's like third car to drive around town, 30 mpg isn't too shabby.

Yeah, I know what you mean, I got lucky, the first owner of my FD was some little old lady who was scared shitless of it, and the next two owners were military guys/airline pilots who hardly had the chance to drive it cuz they both got deployed or were always out of town. By the way, what's the body kit on yours? It looks really good.
