I think I got my first one when I was like 8... But that was Gran Turismo. When I was 18 I bought my first REAL FD. And now I have an FD RC car as well if you wanna count that. And my special lady friend also has an FD... I got it made!

You can do a work study in most high schools where the last couple hours a day you take off and go to work. Honestly i wish i would have had a job in high school. I had my business i was running when i was 16... but being in high school, and trying to run that sad little thing that i called a business wasn't making me cash that a regular job could. But still if i didnt start it then, i might not have it now. the business was making me about 300-400 a month, nothing big at all. But it grew and now aftermarket automotive is my life... and i love it.

Also i somewhat agree with the whole mommy and daddy thing. the times it really bugs me is when the spoon fed teens with the 20 thousand dollar cars think they are untouchable and that they are the ****. thats the only time it gets to me. The down to earth teens that still pull a job even though mom and dad bought them a car, and still make their insurance payments and cell phone and everything else. there is some respect in that. I grew up in a low-middle income family in Flint Michigan, bought my own cars, paid all my own insurance and bills. Just start working early if you want that FD bad enough you will have it. I was the same way at 16.. it felt so unobtainable. I used to see an FD once and awhile when i didnt have one, and it was like a dream to see it. Now that i see it everyday, its just like ... EH... nice car... but its not like a dream. It kinda grew on me. FDFDFD.... work hard, thats all i can say.

I worked my *** off just so I could buy an FD. I know im only 17 and I know im in hardcore debt now.. well not really ill pretty much have it paid off by this winter. I bought it cause it was my dream car and I wanted to show my parents that I could be on my own and hell.. might as well do it with the car i've been dreaming about since I first got a ride in it.. grade 7 . I love the car and I take the best care of it.. I treat it like its my child..

and I hope someday when I have kids they will look like my fd..

Anyone want to sell me a FD3S RX7 in eh....1.5 years for about..... Less than $8K?
Seriously. Anybody?

Here in MA we have to be 16 1/2 to obtain a license. At 16, we can get a permit, but you gotta have like a 18 year old or someone in the passenger seat. So 16 1/2 is when I'm really going to be driving.

Should RX7's ( FD3S ) that sell for less than $9,000 be avoided? I've talked to some members and they said there wasn't much positive things to be said about them, and that the RX's that are ~15K should be in good condition.

Bought mine for $17,500 with the single conversion already. Was a little iffy as to the mechanical condition of the car. But as soon as I was told that Rotary Performance did everything to the car, I called and confirmed with RP and as soon as they said the car was built by them, I called the owner and arranged for the purchase.
Got it the next day...

*Then that afternoon the starter died* But it was still worth it.

What do you guys think of starting with a FC, then upgrading to a FD once I hit ~2nd year of college...?

FC's are so much cheaper and much more readily available... but the FD is my dream.
Looks like used FC's go for as much as used civics do. ~$3-5K.

if you get an FD and you really cant afford it, your going to kick yourself in the *** for having to sell it later. Definitely when it was the one car you wanted to keep forever. Get the FD when its obtainable, dont stretch to get it. FC's are great cars, i had a 240 and a TII before i ever got my FD.

I guess this is my chance to boast.. LOL!

Got the car a week before turning 17. Don't mean to turn this into a cultural/race situation, but if anyone really knows a Mexican family (or is Mexican, for that matter), they know NOTHING is handed to them.

All my money and none of my parents. At age 10 or 11 (I forgot), I asked my mom for a SEGA System, she said, "You want that? Well.. start working" From then on to about 17, I worked pure odd jobs paying under the table. It was LS1'd about 4-5 months after.

At age 19, I got my 05 C6. I'm 20 now, going on 21 this November.

Yeah, mang.. I did it on a budget at first since I couldn't afford the bling-bling, so NOW I'm doing it right.

Taking the motor out, painting engine bay, adding some body parts (Pettit Flares), new wheels, suspension, brakes, full car paint job, all SS lines, taking all emissions off (cats!!), working on my own painless wiring system since I left a lot of unnecessary crap on it just to get it up and running. A big hassle, but it's going to be worth it. I've been seeing some ULTRA CLEAN swaps, so that was the motivation.

I was going to go with a C5 Z06, but the price on the C6 was just too good to pass up.

Haven't seen ya around in a while. Still battlin' out the n00bs in the Kill Section?

Could someone recommend me a nice starter car with some pros and cons ( RWD preferable )

I have already thought of - 300ZX ( but I don't like the looks )
240SX
Miata ( too small )
FC3S
Anything else?
