How much is your insurance?

Just wondering the cost/monthly payments of insuring a FD. The car I'm looking at is a 1993, I have one point on my record and 23 years old.

Not much value to compare as different states, different coverages, records, driver age, usages etc. but I understand your desire to know, and we may as well share as the Ins. Co's sure wish we didn't

'94 RX7$708 per year

$300/100/50k Liability, Collision - Actual Cash Value, deductable $1k; pressure usage, no driver under 25; Texas, multi car and house policies,. Allstate

Thanks man, I'm just trying to figure out my estimated cost for insuring these two cars. I am going to have a 2005 SRT4 for a daily driver and the cost for insurance is around $103 for a 23 year old with 1 point. You pay around 50 something a month, so I'm guessing the RX7 will be around the same as the SRT4.

It all depends also on the insurance company. some research, others dont. When I moved to TX and had to change me insurance I shopped around. what I found was some companys classify the 7 as the ***** to the wall sports car we all know and love while others classify it exactly like a miata. luckily USAA is the latter. I am at 100/mo for full coverage and a 250 deductable. im a 23 yearold who has atleast 3-4 speeding tickets.

The main thing with Progressive is they're pretty quick to rule a car totaled. They like to factor in every part, even if it wasn't on the car in the first place and/or wasn't even in the damaged area. I found that out personally.

When I first bought my fd at 19 on my own policy with no tickets, I was paying 250 a month but every six months it would drop and drop then I was paying around 110 until this last June I got married and now pay 150 full coverage on my fd and my wife's Prius. I am 23 BTW....

I would rather have legitimate insurance in the case that I did happen to wreck it...you know what insurance companies are like, any excuse not to pay & they will.

Thanks anyway

I do know that USAA is the only insurance company I will ever use from now on. they are amazing. When my last car was totaled, total show car. I was driving it to a show and an old *** lady tried to bust an illegal u-turn in the middle of a overpass, and i t-boned her. her insurance company paid for the car, since she was at fault, but they would not pay for all the mods, and there were plenty (about $4000 more than her insurance paid me). So i called USAA and told them what was up, and they cut me a check for the $4000 difference minus my $250 deductible, and all I did was fax them all the receipts for the mods (which I keep every receipt for this car in a folder, and recommend everyone to do the same!). a copy of the check from her insurance company, and the mileage of the car when it was totaled.

All-in-all an amazing company. too bad you have to be military or dependent to get it.

p.s. my rates didn't go up for this claim either. and I never had to report my mods to USAA before the accident.

Yesterday I paid my annual insurance on the FD to Grundy - $369.
It is insured for $24K. While it would cost more than $24k to replicate it, if I had to I could probably find a similar car in that price range.

This is collector car insurance. It cannot be used as a daily driver, but there are no mileage restrictions.

What are the restrictions? I don't understand how they determine that the car is not used as a dd.

From what I've heard from some of the people that I know that have it. With some of them you are required to report the mileage once each year, and if you have a claim they take that mileage and if its over the limit they have usually 3-4k a year than your policy becomes invalid and they aren't required to pay. With others they take it on good faith untill you need a claim and then they do like a "investigation" and stuff.

But I haven't actually had a policy so I'm not positive. This is just what I was told by alot of the Old Corvette and Old Mustang guys that I knew in SC

There is one restriction - don't use the car as a daily driver.

I believe they initially ask for info on the DD.

You can even drive it to work occasionally if you like, but I don't.

How can they tell? I don't know. I guess they trust their customers.

Hmm so maybe they want proof of another car?? Like they wanna see another car with insurance and registration under YOUR NAME? I dont know how that works.

The unlimited mileage part is kinda hard to believe. Usually car collector insurance companies keep that to a min.

They dont check your mileage every year or so just for calculation on how much you drive?

I really need to look into this grundy company.

Btw my insurance is about $171.xx per month with allstate.

Im 26 with a perfect clean record (knock on wood).

DD is full coverage cause i drive it everywhere. FD is only on liability for now cause i hardly drive it. Total monthly would be about $369.xx if i put FD for full coverage but its not worth it when i only take the FD out about 10 times a month. Although it would suck if it got stolen or whatever.

I pray bad things like that would never happen.

I wanna go collectors insurance on the FD though.
