How much would a drive train sell for?

Thinkin about selling my whole drive train. Motor, all accesories, trans, turbos, ect.

Motor is a mazda reman with 29k and low compression:
Front: 9.5, 4.6, 3.5
Rear: 8.9, 8.8, 8.6

Turbos, and 5 speed trans have about 77k on them. As do all the other accesories like alt, p/s pump. compressor, ect. With harness, and ECU.

Just lookin for a rough estimate. Any ideas guys?

As much as you can get for it. Seriously.

You could probably get $400-500 for your turbos in good condition, but the fact that you have low compression probably means that something exited the engine through the primary turbo (low compression on front rotor). You won't know for sure until you remove and inspect them for damage and shaft play. There are many posts on this subject, and the For Sale section is the best place to get a good idea of the "going price" for parts.

The same goes for the transmission. In good condition, it's probably worth $500 or so. If it's in need of a 5th gear syncro replacement, obviously less.

The engine may be worth about the same, since it has low compression. In good condition, it might have been worth more, but an engine with 29k in need of a rebuild is worth considerably less than a fresh reman., and you won't know what part of the engine is reusable until it's disassembled and inspected. Chances are good it'll need a rotor and a housing at the very least.

Your accessories are probably worth more collectively than your major parts, if you part them out and get a good price for them. Find someone in dire need of an engine harness, for example, and you might get $200 or more for it. If you have the '94-'95 A/C pump, it's worth a considerable amount of money. An air pump in good shape is also worth a reasonable amount. Again, the For Sale section is the best place to find out what parts like yours are currently selling for.

In the end, price depends on three things... condition, supply, and demand.

Thanks for the info, I was tihnking the engine would be worth as much as a core though since a core charge is $900.

So do you think it'll be eiasier to sell parts indvidually or jsut the whole engine/trans/harness ect all together? I guess it really does depend on whos looking.

Thanks for the info jim.

The core charge is dependent on who is providing the replacement engine. Many shops don't offer that much for a core, at least that I've seen. Shipping charges (and options) for the heavier parts will also affect the price.

It will likely take longer, but you'll usually get more money if you part out the assembly and sell the major and minor pieces separately, and you're right, it does depend on who is looking.
