I can honestly say I am a dumbass. About a year ago I got my first FD and 3rd car. I had a general idea that FD parts would cost alot but didn't know about how many things could go wrong. So I purchased a 93 R1 for about 11k and in a year spent about 5-7k on replacement and performance parts. But now I really don't care because it was well worth the smile and tingley feeling I get every time I sit in the driver seat.

The FD is a great car. But, mods aside at 250hp it pales in comparison to modern cars.

A couple years ago I was on the verge of handing over a check for a very sweet, pristine, and original FD with low mileage. Occasionally, I have second thoughts about how it went down. In retrospect I think it was fortunate the owner was on some boat and out of contact.

Instead for near the same money I got a relatively low mileage 1985 GSL-SE and a Ferrari 308. As some have mentioned, the FC or a 1st gen SE are nearly bulletproof and a pleasure to work on.
