How much is a new Tranny?

I'm just talking the Stock Tranny.

Should I rebuild, or buy new?

Also, do you know ho wmuch it costs from Mazda Competition with the membership discount? I can call them and ask, but I figure I will pester you guys instead

Your best bet is to contact Malloy mazda in woodbridge Va for a price. Last I heard they were going for around 2300

About $2000 with discount sounds right. A good rebuild will cost you $1000-1400. Depends on how much money you have to spend. New is better unless you have someone like KDR who will blueprint it for you.

I was down at Mazda South(here in Austin) yesterday, and I asked them how much they'd charge for new manual transmission... they told me $1800.

I rebuilt my tranny a few months ago and it cost me about $500 worth of parts. I think that if you can find someone that will do it for ~$1000 then that's a fair price. It's alot of work, takes plenty of time and requires the use of lots of different special tools. I suggest you have a reputable shop do it for you. Btw I think that a properly rebuilt tranny is just as good as a new one.
