How much longer till my engine blows?
I have 125K miles on my engine and it is an original engine. Im wondering how long you think it will take to blow? How many more miles can i expect to put on it? I have an Apex'i air intake and a Racing Beat catback exhaust. also everything else besdies the actual motor is new.
If I may be so bold: I really depends on how you drive it and the quality of the original build. Do you have the reliabilty mods? Boost gauge? The original engine on my car crapped out at 116k miles. Most engines are rebuilt ALOT sooner. But if I were you, I'd start saving up for a rebuild.

I am shocked that you are still on the first engine with that many miles. Are you sure that it wasn't replaced by Mazda under warranty earlier in it's life? Most FD engines only last 80-90K miles before a coolant seal goes. Are you on the same set of original turbos also?

I have to agree with others here, in saying it could be unlikely that this is the original engine. While not impossible, it would surely rank it right up there with the most-long-lived 13BREW if it IS orginal miles.
But you just bought the car, right? I am assuming you could be the third, fourth or more owner? For all you know (or have told us thus far) the engine could only have a few thousand miles on it, and you can look forward to years and years of trouble-free service.
I certainly wouldn't assume that the engine is going to expire at any moment! If it runs good, has no coolant system problems (the #1 killer.... or at least tied with apex/corner seal detonation damage....of engines) or any other obvious sign of trouble, then just enjoy it and don't go looking for trouble...lol! The Rotary Gods have a way of smiting thee.......

Im sure its the original engine, my dad bought the car in 2000 as his and then passed it on to me. Im positive its the original engine, but the turbos are new J-spec turbos and my mechanic found and sealed a bunch of leaks.
my new fd i got if off an older guy the car was all stock and he was the original owner. The cars engine got strong compression at 134k i dont think the guy even knew what boost was one of the intercooler pipe was off when i drove it for the first time.

To the original thread starter, DO NOT believe this statement... I would believe it's actually the opposite. I'm sure sonix and rynberg and dgeeseman will respond soon with a more fact-based response...
