you should do a search man. But i hear it handles a great deal of power. The tranny is basically the strongest part of our cars, lol. probably around 600rwhp, more then most people are able to accomplish on these cars.

There's a big difference between how much power a transmission can handle when the wheels are in motion and how much power it can handle when launching on slicks at the drag strip.

Making huge power on the dyno or the street rarely causes breakage because the wheels are in motion and you're not talking about an instant shock to the drivetrain. The same power at the strip, on the other hand, would eventually break the transmission's output shaft, assuming the driveline, differential, and axles all hold up to the abuse. Dedicated 6-speed Camaro/Firebird drag racers can testify to this.

You'll notice that there are very few 9-second RX-7s with the stock 5-speed transmission and none in the 8s or quicker to my knowledge.

thanks guys, i was just thinking about how long my tranny will handle 20b with big turbo but 600rwhp level sounds not that bad. i thought about replacing it with upgraded th400, we just installed one to supra.looks like first i will try with stock tranny.
as for rx7 in moscow then yes we have some here. not very popular tough. my 20b project is unique in whole russia.
thanks for advicing!

Use the stock tranny until you blow it. If you blow it, then u know it's time for an upgrade. Anyways, good luck to you.
