$41,900 for my 1994.

They were, are, and will always be more expensive, for very similiar performance #'s stock to stock.
Maybe in handling and braking, but not in the acceleration department, and another $400-500 will get you 375+ RWHP.

17/25

That is pretty funny.
It should also say
"Estimated annual repair costs"
$ Probably more than it should be.

Note that the range is 14-20 city and 21-29 highway. I got 13-14 and 20-21, as I recall, so technically that is sort of in the EPA range.

My local dealer was charging about 30-31 for the base and about 34 for the R or Tourings.

I never take the highway and the trip to work is all stop-and-go. Last time I checked, it was more like 13-14 city.

I wish I had the origanal sticker for my car, one of the ONLY documents I dont have in the history of my vehicle.

However the MSRP on mine was listed at $41,800 -- 1994 Montego Blue 'Touring' /w Automatic

Damn, I used to get 10/14. Only once did I ever get 17 mpg out of a tank. Guess I shoulda stayed outta the boost if I cared about gas mileage

Damn. That was a good deal.

I bought my new R1 for $27,000 in 1993. Despite the great reviews by car magazines, the RX7 did not sell well. There were many sitting on the dealer lot.

It was a good deal. My experience too. I had my choice of colors and there was even a yellow R-1 available. I preferred Silver.

The dealer told me after he sold it that he was "glad to done with it & to tell my friends there were a lot more where that one came from". The car was just too hard core for most buyers.

I couldn't afford my $33,xxx FD in '93, so I bought a new '93 5.0 coupe final year for $14,000. Also known as "best bang for the buck." 220hp 300lb tq at 2900 lbs curb weight.

With $1,000 and change, a set of TFS heads and 24lb injectors yields you around 340 horses, and around 400lb tq.

That was fun then...

I paid $30k even for my 93 R1 in 93. I haven't a clue what the sticker was. At the time the entire sports car market was in the tank. It wasn't just RX7's not selling well. No sports cars were selling well at the time because the trendy crowd was herded to SUV's and they all followed along. The sports car industry was smashed during the 90's. The RX7, 300ZX, Stealth/3000GT, Supra, NSX even I believe were all cancelled during the 90's although the sector has gotten some new life in a last couple years with the high power sedan craze, ala AMG mercedes, RS6 Audi (Audi's are complete crap btw don't ever buy one) etc.

mine says 34995 silver 93 touring 5spd

Audis do not suck. I have a 93 90cs quattro and it is awesome. It doesnt give me any problems. It has 150k miles on the clock and is still as quiet as a rock, and the leather interior held up pretty damn good and still has no tears nor looks worn out.

My 99 A6Q is crap and the company as a whole is scum. Here's an example of Audi company policy. "Uh oh, our tie rod ends appear to be defective and wearing out at an alarming rate on nearly new cars. NHTSA says we have to do a recall and replace them".... A little while passes. ..."Sheesh this recall is costing us a ton but our lawyers came up with a clever way to screw the customers that haven't gotten the recall done yet. What's that? It's now a wear and tear item, get rid of the recall and stop fixing them. Now we can charge $500 to replace them instead!"

It was pretty pathetic to look up the part and see it was defective and under recall, so I go in to get mine replaced, which had also ripped and worn out internally, only to be told oh, uh yeah, that's actually a normal wear and tear item now and not covered by a recall. Hrmm didn't your recall state it was defective? Well yeah but uhh,, it's not covered.

I won't even start to list all the other things that have gone wrong with it. The only good things about the cars are they go through snow very well and have a good looking front half.

If you've had such good luck with an Audi I'd count your blessings for you're very fortunate. Go look up how they do in consumer reports. It's not pretty.

Kevin, you got a bad roll of the dice.

I have had four Audis, a 1998 A4, a 2001 A4 (after one of my kids put the 99 in a creek), a 2003 A-4, and an 2003 A-6 Avant. All have been excellent, trouble free automobiles with great fit and finish & my local dealer treats us like gold.

I never had an out of pocket expense. The warrently covers wear items: brake pads, windshield wipers, god knows what else, for four years. You dealer must be a thief.

I love the brand. Unfortunately they have gotten too damn pricey but that RS-4 looks like a great car.

I too have to chime in on loving Audis. (sorry about the hijacking)

I've had 4 Audis over the years and each one has been a joy to drive and none of them have ever cost me much more than fuel and oil.

If I had the bucks I'd find a nice RS6 and go have some MAJOR fun!

(Well....'cept I am pissed at the Germans right now..... )

A bad roll of the dice doesn't cause the corporate office to claim a recalled part is magically a wear and tear item after they realize how big the problem is. Nor does a bad roll of the dice cause consumer reports to give such a bad rating to the cars. Almost the only Audis without bad ratings are the ones too new to have all the problems yet : ). While under warranty they aren't too bad, but then you'd have to be the sap to eat the huge depreciation in the first couple years, Like I was . Look up aftermarket warranty costs on them compared to other cars in the class. Sorry for the hijack but I want my A6 to be stolen please!
