Would anyone be able to offer an educated guess as to how much weight they add over the bins and seperator panel?

Peter:
I didn't put them on a scale but I'd guess that my rear seats actually weigh a couple of pounds LESS than the plastic bins. The heaviest part of the whole assembly was the rear seatbelt brackets and reels - the seats & seatback themselves are superlight. Mazda did a good job with that.

I'll show them to you sometime, maybe @ MADS.

I agree with the above.. they're not heavy at all.. they've got just enough padding to make them semi-cumfy and keep the heat of the floor off your butt

Likely not. They usually go by the manufacturer data associated with your VIN. The VIN tells the insurance company what configuration and what (manufacturer) optional equipment the particular car has - including safety equipment, ABS, airbags, etc. Wouldn't hurt to try though.

Back seats are standard in the j-spec FD base models. Only good for small children but if you put the passenger's seat way up maybe someone bigger??

I am looking into it myself since I have a baby on the way (no, it's not my only car). Problem is that most baby seats do not fit in deep bucket seats. My brother has a Firehawlk and he has yet to find a baby seat which will fit in it. And the Firehawlk's back seats are much larger than the FD's...

You can get them for around $400-500 + shipping from JT-Imports www.jt-imports.com or Jimmy's in the UK http://www.jimmys-rx7.co.uk/Whats_New.htm

I don't believe that they were ever made in tan. No tan interiors in Japan...

If you want a back seat, I have one. Let me know and we can make a price.

Does anyone else see a problem with this sentence? I don't think stock=super reliable in any FD

Hmm...I've already got a 4 door WRX, so it's not a big deal to put seats in the back of my cruiser..no kids either.
