Question How much do you pay for your FD insurance?

I was curious as to what everyone pays for there FD insurance. I know that every persons situation is different and states and location have a lot to do with the pricing.

Figured it might be interesting to see what everyone is paying and see who is overpaying. lol

There are many threads on this. I am guessing you feel like you got a great deal and want to rub it in... especially with your "see who is overpaying" line of crap. Overpaying is purely subjective. And if you were truly interested in some sort of research and not just boosting your own little ego.... you would have set your thread up more like this one (which I found using the SEARCH button and the terms "FD insurance") - https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...t=fd+insurance

Oh, and to burst your bubble: I pay $24 per month, full coverage, 50/100/50 + 20 pip

Funny, how people automatically make assumptions on this forum, I did search for "Insurance" on the forum, found some stuff on page 8... I build websites for a living, I know how these things work.

And in case your geographical map is messed up you would have seen that I live in Brooklyn NY. Which is probably one of the most expensive places for insurance. So this thread is not a ego booster, I don't need to boost my own ego because I'm fine with what I am. And to me, yes I feel I got a great deal... $100 bucks a month for liability because its my third car on the policy.

The problem with insurance rates... is the fact that insurance companies don't have set guidelines on how they rate each person. (This is in no way being derogatory towards you, just stating a frustration with insurance) All they have to do is put together a few statistics saying that this group of ages/races/ticketed drivers tend to get into this many accidents at a net cost of x. Of course they are going to skew it as much as possible. The insurance commissioner of each region then decides if the numbers are fair and that the insurance company is making a fair profit margin. Personally, I hate insurance and love it at the same time. However, I believe that there should be a non-profit option for each state. That way the for-profit insurance companies have some competition. Specialty companies that do agreed-value policies would remain unaffected due to the nature of their policies. I have been saying this for almost 8 years now and I wish I knew how to actually DO something about it instead of just whining.

Here's a fun comparison:
Me (25 y/o male - 0 Tickets/Accidents)
2005 Kawasaki Ninja ZZR600
Safeco: $12 per month (after 3 years. 1st year was 55 per month, 2nd was 26.)
State Farm wanted $75 to start.

I purchased a 2007 Yamaha R1.
Safeco: $146 per month
State Farm: $27

This kind of stuff just blows my mind. I find insurance to be the most marked up item ever. And yet I even sell a form of it (Pre-Paid Legal). It's an interesting world we live in. And I apologize for the tone of my previous post.

I won't be insulting to you... but you are obviously ignorant.... to the truth.

I can understand why some would say that. However, in my case, I have a positive story for it. I have already used my "membership" to contact a couple of attorneys. One of them wrote a letter on my behalf to resolve a VERY old issue I have been dealing with regarding credit card companies. So, I know they actually DO work. But, like so many opinions, yours was probably formulated off of hearsay and/or false propaganda.

-Is it a multi-level-marketing system? Yes (But most definitely not a pyramid scheme)
-How may levels down will a salesperson make profit? 1 (but how can this be?)
-Can someone brought in below you end up above you or just plain make more money than you? Yes. Easily. (I would love to see this in any "regular" company on any regular basis)

If you do not fully understand something, it does not make it a joke.

And something to keep in mind concerning me: I am former law-enforcement, and I am fairly certain that while some may not like me, most know me as a reputable member. I have no reason nor motivation to bs or mislead anyone on this board (or in person for that matter)

Fiz-e I'm pretty sure this was discussed and people from the brooklyn answered as well. If you want though, you can just ask theorie how much he pays. I believe he said he is in williamsburg. Where in BK are you, I used to live in Park Slope.

Yeah, I know Theorie, he lives like 20 blocks away from my place, but I am pretty sure he still has insurance in FL. My wife is actually a insurance agent and his zip code in willamsburg is rated in the top two most expensive zipcodes in NY, doubt he would change it to here.

I'm in greenpoint and actually just moved to queens but haven't switched addresses on insurance yet.

Monkman33, I know what you mean about insurance company's. I know a bit about how weird it is just from my wife working for allstate. Prices vary so drastically it is insane. I think it should be regulated so all insurance company's charge the same rate and not change rates based on stupid things. I understand age, tickets and all that stuff. but Why if you have a 2 door car you have to be put in a higher bracket. or if your car is red. I mean color of car... come on are they serious.

Most company's will give a discount if you keep your car in a garage, well because I live in Brooklyn and have a garage they say, your not eligible for this discount because you live in Brooklyn.

I don't even have insurance with my wifes company anymore, she told me after a year, switch to a different company, whey will automatically give you a better rate since you had a year at another company. (not all company's apply though) simply insane.

Unfair statistical data my man. It kinda makes sense but doesn't.

Statistical data is right... because it is a two door car you are statistically more likely to speed and have a accident. Statistically if you have a flashy colored car you are more concerned about the way your appearance is and not your safety while driving. I mean who comes up with this stuff.

My buddy put his FD in his mothers name so the insurance can be cheaper... After like a few months they canceled her insurance saying that the probability of her driving a car like this is unlikely and that they had to cancel the insurance.

Yeah, I mean if its going to be expensive then just keep it consistent right. I can see why the R1 is more money, (they go by size of the engine sort of like they do in Europe) I have a 1999 r6 which I have had for 2 years now but haven't ridden once or even insured yet. but they quoted me at like 125 a month for liability.

I have 3 cars right now under my insurance and I pay around $454 a month. and only one car has full coverage.

Nah man. The reasons you mention (flashy colored car) are irrelevant. The only things that matter are the numbers hahaha. Their doesn't need to be a reason. Only that the people you are pigeon-holed with are morons.

You are correct man, I spoke too soon. the misconception with flashy colors is that most sports cars come in flashy colors. Just asked my wife and she said main factors on a car is size of engine, number of doors and brand of car.

It's funny... If they managed to drag up a study of accidents that "shows" cars with power antenna's are more prone to being side-swiped than vehicles with standard antennas.... they would be able to "justify" to the insurance commissioner for a higher rate.

Talking

Ok, I'll throw some wrenches into your research. Mine is kinda complicated.

-My monthly insurance payment is 90.00 and some change, covering all vehicles.
-I have three vehicles on the policy, only one of them isn't considered "high risk". The CX-7. The miata and FD jack it up.
-I'm paying for full coverage for two states, Texas and Alabama.
-All of my deductibles are 50.00
-I'm military
-I'm over 25 and married (for some reason, that makes me more responsible)
-What counteracts the above is that I have a racing ticket and one going 90 in a 55 on my record from my younger stupider days which jacked up the rate. I got those two at the same time. Dallas tickets are expensive.
-My accident may or may not still be on record. I will have to check. I rolled my first miata 2 1/2 times in a field.

I think that's it. I'm your insurance agent's nightmare.

Wow, I'm jealous of all of you. I pay about $90 just for liability on my fd. I have an accident and one ticket, but they both happened about five years ago, so neither are on my record anymore. I also paid the accident out of pocket, so I don't know if it ever got reported anyways. I'm 23 and military. Hopefully it'll go down a bunch when I hit 25.

I am curious why you guys would just have liability.

If I had done that I would have lost my first FD and my money... 2 times.

Yeah man, your insurance should go down when you turn 25. The bad points of insurance are when you are under 25, when its your first 3 years of driving and first year of insurance. after those discounts... your kinda done till you get old...

I hate when they have to inspect your car when you get full coverage. Ive had as simple as they just take a picture and write some stuff down to a guy practical fingering my tailpipe.

They would see the FD and be like mmnnnn your door handle is not where its supposed to be. insurance up. Sir can you please start the car. Well, I'm sorry sir but your motor sounds blown, we can't insure this. "It's a rotary"... Sir your car is broken....
