How many silver 95's are around??

My friend might buy a silver 95 rx7. I told him it's pretty rare to see that color, let alone a 95. Does anyone know how many were imported into the US? I remember seeing a site a while back with the numbers. Thanx

From the info on this site there were 62 '95 Silver models. This includes all models (R2, touring/PEP).

He's got a rare find. Was it stock? I'd pick that up in a heartbeat.

wow - 24k for a car that is rare, but will only fetch top dollar to this group of collectors. 1/62 is phenominally rare (rarer than the Enzo thats for sure), but its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

You see 93's go between the ranges of 14-18 w/ that mileage. If the car being 2 years newer (and no peeling plastic or 5th gear synchro issues), or the rarity of the car is worth another 6 g's to the person purchasing it, then pick it up.

One thing to consider is that if he wrecks it, his insurance check won't cover the value of the car. He'd be lucky to get 18 back.

Just some things to consider, but a great car and a rare find indeed.

Best of luck with it.

Steve

1995 Silver R2?!?! I'd pay like $30K for that!! There were only 16 Silver R2's EVER MADE! (and 18 Black R2s) in 95. That's a GOLD MINE.

Unless....it's that silver R2 that we've seen pop up on this forum over and over again. It's at some dealership, and I think he's askin like $35K for it...good luck!

There's a silver R2 (1995) in Naples, Florida too, owner of the Steering Wheel. Blew it's motor at around 22K miles if I remember correctly and it now features a Pettit rebuild and modified stock turbos.

If you go to the 2nd post on this thread by zmarko, he posted a link to the production #s of the various FD models by year. In 94, there were 156 black, 156 red, and 83 silver R2s produced.

17K sounds like an excellent price if you ask me. I'm a hardcore enthusiast, and I would expect a 94 or 95 black or silver R2 in good condition to go for at least 19K.

oh and rx7tt95, no no no no no! lol
I know it's not your car, but that's EXACTLY why stokedxiv is selling is 95 black R2. Those things are far and few inbetween as it is. He doesn't wanna molest it w/ all the modifications he wants. He's hoping to sell it to someone who knows how rare it is, and who'll take care of it by KEEPING IT STOCK. You just don't do stuff like that to a car that only 16 or 18 were made of...

Keep in mind that while that model and color combination were rare, they were rare because the demand was VERY low. If the demand had been there Mazda would have built TONS of them. A very different situation to the Enzo....

Karm
'94 red R2 (original owner, I REALLY wanted a silver one but couldn't locate one at the time)

Yea I'm sure you're right. But in 95, there wasn't much demand for ANY RX7s at that. By then, the rotary had gotten a bad enough rap from all the "blown engines" and "bad turbos" that Mazda's underqualified mechanics couldn't diagnose as simple things like disconnected hoses and what not... Also, factor in that in 95, FDs went for much more than what they did in 93...

I'm sure you being an original owner (you're damn lucky hehe) know this better than I. I believe in 93, the base model ran for $31K - $33K, and by the end of 95, R2s ran $43K, correct? (I have yet to hear of a FD selling for more than $43K in 94 or 95, but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened.)

Is it silly to compare a specific model and color combo to a entire model of car.

It would be more reasonable to say there is ONE yellow Enzo and 62 silver 95 FDs. Make sense?

I'm 99% sure you're correct on the pricing, the '94 base was $33K (I think) and the R2 option was $2 or $3K. I don't think the '95's got up to a list of $43K but if that is what they were asking, it explains the low demand.

I agree, compare how many Enzo's total were made compared to FD's then that's how the comparison should be made.. A FD is in no way rarer than a Enzo.. Also the Enzo is another class of car, and a Ferrari is more collectable than a Mazda if you know what I mean..

Not knocking that they silver '95 is probably beautiful but let's call it what it is..
