How many RX7 produced in Canada.
I did some reading and it looks like there was around aprox 10,000 RX7 FD sold in the USA. A country that has millions of people, thats a very small amount of RX7 sold. Since Canada has the colder climate & way smaller population, I imagine less than half of those RX7 were sold in Canada. Does anyone know about how many RX7 were sold in Canada. Thanks

True we can import FD in Canada now because the 92 JDM Fd RX7 are 15 years now. There is a huge price difference. The Left hand drive RX7 average price is around $20,000 - $25,000 CAD. The JDM RX7 are going for $10,000.00 CAD so those value suck. Another example is the 300ZX, theres more right hand drive 300zx then the left hand. Left hand value is more and the 300zx from Japan can be purchased for $8000-10,000 CAD. I guess USA has that 25 year rule, they are thinking of switching it to that in Canada as well. The main cars that get imported to Canada from Japan are 300zx, silvia, skyline. Its getting to the point where every kid in high school has one, way over populated. The RX7 are still rare, I think the word Rotary scares alot of people so they dont even bother.

It used to be that you can import anything into Canada, but now the RIV (registrar of imported vehicles) is slowly closing the door. For example if you're importing a car from U.S. and it was built for European or Japanese or whatever market, even if it's 15 years or older it's inadmissable into Canada, even if the car was modified to comply with U.S. standards.
I don't know how many RX7 were sold in Canada, but it seems that at least most of FDs left in Canada have been imported from US or now Japan. Around Vancouver I've only seen four FDs within the last three years and that's including mine. Fourth gen. supras seem to be even more rare. I haven't seen many 300ZX around though, they're definately more common that RX7 and supras, but still. My friend has one with a kaminari kit, custom candy red paint, looks beautiful. Except for the skylines and some diesel minivans I have't come accross anything right hand drive.
2fast4u_rx7: It could be that the rotary scares people or it could be that many don't know what it is and how it's working. With FDs it could be that it's difficult to come by one and when you find one it's not cheap.

i have a FD in vancouver : )
motor is bunk though.. so i gotta fix that first before she gets back on the road
off to force fed she goes
It's what i get for bringing over a RHD FD from japan.. however i wasn't expecting the motor to last a long time. I was more over wanting a body that had zero rust, and in mint condition, which i did get.

Mine is Montego Blue, wearing a full burnout kit. I'm in for the meet if it's not tomorrow. I'm going to be busy all day tomorrow.
TwinJDMSnails: How's RHD? Do you get used to it or is it still difficult to drive, especially in traffic?

oh and RHD is easy to drive.. you don't even notice it after driving it for a couple hours. Left hand turns are easy too, just gotta be careful and not a retard.
i like shifting with the left hand and having the right hand on the wheel.. feels a lot better. stupid LHD beater car.. lol
