How many miles on original OEM turbos ?
Just wondering the average life of the stock OEM turbo’s ? I am in the process of a rebuild and my old stock turbo’s look like hell. Apparently these are the originals, 100k + on them. Holly **** they were crispy … kinda looked like they were on the bottom of the space shuttle during re-entry .The primary turbo had some play in the shaft but the crack in the manifold is huge.
The good news is my BNR stage two’s will be shipped on Monday

how is this a regional question? moving to 3rd gen section because you mentioned primary turbo and BNR turbo upgrade and your AV is of a 3rd gen. no mention of the year of your car in the post...

I *think* I have the record.
154,500K miles as of Today. I have no problems. I run 13 lbs at the track, 12 on the street. No leaking oil or smoking. Run like new.

I will say that the previous owner said to me "I think Its Fast". He told me he never drove above 4000 rpm. Also on my carfax report it showed that he drove from NC to CA regularly. Infact, in 1999 he put on somewhere in the area of 50K miles on the car.
The car sat unused from 2000-2002.
My guess is that highway miles combined with the fact that the original owner never reved the car that hard has alot to do with it. I redline my car all time at the track, but on the street I rarely engage my 2nd turbo.
Also, for the last 2 minutes or so of my ride I don't boost (unless I have to) and I put my fans on (I have a power FC that makes position 3 on the AC turn on the fans but not the compressor). Then when I park I wait from 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Also, I should point out, I replaced my OEM clutch at 140K, only because I modded the car and it started to slip (the car was BONE stock when I bought it), so it was never driven hard.
Also, as a bone stock car when I bought it, It had boost problems (NO, really I mean it!!, lol) and it only boosted 8-8-8. so it never got too stressed I guess.

My turbos went out the week I bought my car. I got a used set with 110k on them as a temporary untilI could find something newer. These were so good though (no oil leaks, very little oil in the intake, etc.) that they are still in the car 30k miles later. I think my original turbos went out because the previous owner had just replaced the motor, when the motor went it damaged the turbos. I guess that is what I get for buying a car with 100 miles on the motor.

I knew it...Zerobanger...I knew the stock clutch could last quite awhile if it wasn't driven too hard.
I really don't think my car was driven hard at all (which might be a bad thing). I've got all of the work receipts done on the car since it was bought...all dealer work, and I don't see anything, anywhere about the clutch being replaced.
Man...the stock clutch must be incredible.

the only reason I had to replace it was cause I started running 12 lbs of boost and it started slipping around 80 MPH @ 12 lbs.
Under near stock conditions I would still have it im sure.

I've run 12 lbs. at high speed (i.e., high loads) with the stock clutch for a quite a while now, and there have been no problems. (knock on wood, of course)

103,000 and they are fine to the best of my knowledge. Pulled good and had no leaks. Recently cracked apex seal, and had no apparent sign of particles being sucked through them so they might be ok. I will be looking at them a lot closer, soon. May go ahead and get them rebuilt or upgrade to '99 spec. Engine decision comes first, however.

I had a loose vacuum line that, by the time I had it fixed, had apparently managed to kill one turbo (I could be mistaken on cause and effect, but that is how it seemed to me. The turbo was replaced under warranty at about 40K miles. Now I run silicon vacuum lines and have 85K miles.
