idr but it should be posted under the hood look around at the factory stickers. what oil did you use? you could go 134 if you flushed the sys out to get rid of the mineral oil. 134 will be a smaller charge amount

Your first charge is going to be 10.59oz before you start the system. After you start the system, you use another charge of 10.59oz. Do not excede a total of 21.20oz.

I just got mine recharged for $159 with R12. To save $80 and go with R134a isn't worth me being hot in traffic.

I think it is right under 2lbs.

You can't just put R134a in a R12 system and have it work properly. The R134a molocule s smaller than the R12's. The compresser has a different seal for the other system to work with this smaller "stuff". But fortcantly the FD switched between the two from the factor in the mid-94 perduction model. So you can get the newer stuff oem style. For the full switch you have to get the newer lines as well but you save in the long run, ie refills in the future. The is another alternative that I personaly have used with both systems and it blows just as cold as the old R12 but cost far less. Give me moment and I'll look for the name of it...

all you realy need to do is get the old mineral oil out of the sysytem. the reciver drier is about 10-12 yrs old so it should be replaced as well. the syn pag oil common in 134 sys will replace the mineral oil and you will be fine. compressors work for either. barrier hose is the same for both 134 and r12. the r134 fittings are more enviromentaly friendl as they leak less when connecting and disconnecting. the condesors in newer 134 cars are bigger pensate for the difference in themal propeties. my girlfriends jetta you could hang meat in it's so cold

The compressors are different as well. R134a causes too much pressure in the R12 system.

There should be sticker on the front underside of the hood with the info.

I just put in Autocool, and it is working good. I have seen 58 degree temps.

Actually, Freon is heavier than air, unlike what the EPA tells people. Thus it doesn't destroy the ozone, stupid people do.
