Really? Holy **** is that accurate? That would mean the third gen is a really rare car? What happened to the other 8000?

I recently drove thru 16 states over 3 weeks, going 10,000 km.

And I did not see a single FD.

Yes. With only about 5,700 cars left in the U.S. of the original 15,000, the FD is indeed a really rare car. Especially when one considers that there are roughly 240,000 Honda Civics, 220,000 Ford Tauruses, 250,000 Chevy pickups, 260,000 Ford pickups...etc, etc made EVERY YEAR!

Very rare indeed.

Do you know where these numbers came from?

Assuming these numbers are correct, do you guys realize that approximately 2 FDs per day, every single day are totaled or otherwise removed from registration??? That's pretty high when you put it in that perspective.

Cool

So there are probably really about 6,500-7,500 FD's left in the states. Mine was unregistered for 2 years when I bought it. Think of how many have been sitting waiting for a new engine, or are being built to hell for show or racing. Those may not be register for a year or two.

I want a low-mile 1993 and bury it way deep in the ground with a window sticker that is dipped in clear plastic, and a comparison sheet for cars of that year.

I am always telling people how there was only 14k Fd's imported over three years and that GM sold 79k or so camaros in 1989 alone.

Mazda USA sold more FD RX-7s in 1992 than in 93,94,95 put together.

Total production from 92-02 was approx 65,000

I simply can't find the info that supports my numbers....I would have sworn to God that we had a discussion on this forum a year or so ago, and SOMEONE had found a site that showed the registrations state-by-state.....but I can't find any threads with those numbers nor discussions...weird. I've changed computers twice since that time and I just KNOW I had those numbers as part of my 'RX-7 File'.....

Dammit...this is driving me NUTS!
