How loud should turbo sound be after putting in dp?

i just put in the rx7store dp in my car and i still have my main cat. i knew that the sound from the turbos would be louder and more noticable but it seems to be really loud. to the point where it almost sounds like a large boost leak when i really get on it and it reaches about 8-10 psi. is this normal or is something up? i dont think it is a boost leak because i had a boost leak from the oring in the y pipe and just replaced it with the efini y pipe with a new oring and gaskets and this sound is similar in some ways but is noticably different in pitch and in ways sounds like the sound of the turbos but in ways it sounds like a boost leak. any ideas?

boost gauge? You should have purchased one when you started modding the car out...

All I can tell you is that when I installed my DP, I could hear a whine but it was obvious that it was the turbos spooling. Did not sound anything like a leak.

ive got one, thats how i know its making the sound when it gets to around 8-10 psi. and even before when i had the big boost leak from the ypipe it would still boost up to 10 psi most of the time it would just sound like there was a high pressure air hose open in the engine bay.

You might have a leak between the turbo-dp, or dp-cat. The rx7 store dp sp combo are supposed to be used together. I got mine to fit without the sp, but took several adjustments to get rid of the leak. Although with my car, with all the adjustments I had to make, the tip of my muffler was rattling against the back bumper.

it seems to be boosting fine now but mabey im just being paranoid but the sound is obviously the turbos spooling until the boost gets up toward the 8-10 psi range, the boost pattern is normal it just sounds different when it gets up there.

if im in a tunnel or boosting next to a divider (i guess the sound bounces off the divider and makes it louder? LOL), then i can hear the turbos spooling but other than that, i didnt notice any BIG difference in sound from the pre-cat and dp spool..

My turbos sounded insanely loud when I was running DP/MP/CB with the silencer pill in my muffler, It would sound pretty loud on primary and then when secondary boosted it would make a super loud whoosh like a jet, Ive had freinds driving next to me say it hurts their ears.
But it stopped doing that after I took the silencer out about a year ago...

wait so when you took out the silencer from your muffler it made it quieter? mabey this is the issue because im runing dp with stock cat and a rsr gtII catback with the removable silencer in it right now, i wonder pulling it would have the same effect yours had?
