I've had my baby for 1 year, 5 months. I had been wanting one ever since late 1996 when I first "discovered" them.

This car will stay with me for the rest of my life, running or not, through sickness and through health, for richer or poorer, till DEATH do us part.

First FD: 93 to 95 (BIG mistake getting rid of it!). Current one: April 2003 to now. No plans on getting rid of it (and making the same mistake twice ).

9 months and never getting rid of it... planning on getting the 4th gen, when it comes out. Unless of course my wife tells me I NEED TO SELL IT, then I'll just settle for the 4th gen.

Bought my first in 97 still on the factory warranty, drove it cross country and sold it for $4k more than I paid (stupid californians, j/k). Missed it so much that two years later I bought another and I still own it 6 years later. Haven't had to pay a cent for anything other than the clutch, knock on wood.

Almost 3 years now and I look at it being a long term commitment from here out, but we'll see.

Since March or May 1993, forget which. Paid 30k even. Still have the little yellow plastic key tag from the dealer inventory of keys that says, "93 RX7 R1 New"

yup, me too, except for 12/98 here. I will never get rid of my FD.....it's paid off, and I port and build my own motors. That pretty much precludes any kind of argument to sell

I bought my 90 FC Vert in August of 02 and drove it to school 500 miles away only to have it die (low compression @ 104k miles) after about a month. My parents had to rent a trailer and take the car home at Thanksgiving. The motor was rebuilt in December. I wanted to make it fast, but I soon came to my senses and began the search for a FD. I came very close to buying two different CYMs. One was completely stock and owned by an old man on the beach. All the metal in the engine bay and under the car was very oxidized, and before I could get the car checked out, it was sold for $16k. I did get to drive it though and was hooked on the turbo pull from the first hit. The second CYM had a rebuilt Petitt motor with Petitt "upgraded" twins. I also drove this one, but the owner and I couldn't come to terms (I started at $16k, he started at $19k, I ended at $17.5k, he ended at $18k and drove home). I was crushed after not getting the second CYM. The same day I had my mechanic inspect the second CYM he showed me this beautiful Montego Blue FD that had a new motor. My mechanic said that the owner was interested in selling but that he would probably want more than $20k. I wrote that one off in my mind instantly knowing that I couldn't afford it. I thought more about it and talked to the owner and ended up buying the car with some negotiation for $20k even (new motor, new T66, nice wheels, paint less than a year old, etc.) Anyways, the car has been a lot of fun, but has also cost a lot of money. I expect to keep it forever, but I doubt it will have a 13B forever.

Oh yeah, I bought the FD in June of 03, and I still have the FC for a daily driver.
