Question How long do the motor's last?

I'm going to buy a car next month and the RX-7 is in my list, actually it's the first on the list. But I was wondering, how long does the motor usually last? I've heard the RX-7 is a reliable car. But in a post I've read it was said that the stock motor doesn't have much life after 80,000 miles. I commute about 60 miles per day and I dont want any car dying on me.
Thanks for any info.

It takes a little more maintenance then your average HONDAH...but you could realistically expect 100K+...

please check out the newbie sticky at the top of the page...there are 2 links up there...live it, learn it..tons of info for you...

My rex was well kept its previous owner. I'm @ 101K on original engine. Turbos rebuilt 30K ago. Still pulls strong.

A 3rd gen engine with BPU or less will last between 50Kmi and 150Kmi. Just take good car of it and don't drive like an *******.

hmmmm...not exactly what I wanted to hear. My driving is going to increase as soon as I transfer colleges and I dont want to buy another Honda (maybe the RSX). And while being in college I cant exactly afford an unexpected $5,000 bill to replace the motor. That sucks!

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend a 3rd gen to you. Maybe a second gen NA. They last forever.

If you are logging on the miles, get something else then.

Then get an N/A FC or FB. With just oil changes they last at least 150Kmi and some have passed the 300Kmi mark and they still pull as hard as when they were first bought. You won't get the extra power, though. Turbo rotaries will wear out very quickly. You will find opposing opinions on everything. You really need to ask yourself, "Am I the kind of person who has the time, money, and motivation to meticulously care for a T/A rotary?" I answered "Yes." to this question.

96k+ on stock motor and turbos. I can't see for sure if the turbos were ever rebuilt in the past. They don't blow any oil and boost perfectly though.
