How the intake system works?

I've been studying up on how the rotary engine works and I've seen how the 93-95 RX7's have two air filters. But I don't know why there's two? Also, can someone describe to me where the air travels in a step by step description because I've only seen pictures of the top of the engine and I can't see when they go through the two turbo setup. Thanks alot for any information.

plain and simple.. one for primary turbo and other for the secondary turbo..
Just remember what turbo does.. If you don't, do some search on the google.

Check out these links, they explain both the rotary engine and the concept of turbocharging:

These are great links, just remember that in the case of the 3rd gen RX7, there are two sequential turbochargers.
